The Castastrophe Risk Centre of Excellence (COE) focus on the identification, quantification and control of risks from natural and man-made sources.

Furthermore, the COE works to provide central risk oversight and define aggregation limits for the division and cascade them down to the appropriate business units.

Our team responsibilities include :

  • Risk capacity budgeting and allocations
  • Interpretation of risk modelling and risk evaluation
  • Delivering portfolio, segment and divisional risk aggregations and risk reporting
  • Facilitating reviews of portfolio PML’s, risk drivers & concentrations
  • You will be working in a global team responsible for the risk management across the AXA XL division supporting Legal entity reporting, various stakeholders across the wider organisation, management of the internal modelling best practices, as well as assisting in regulatory requests.

    What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Manage Catastrophe Risk from Casualty lines of business, which includes General Liability, Professional Liability, and Other Liability lines of business.
  • This will require leveraging internal and external data and assist in creating best practices and tools for data capture, risk selection, scenario testing and portfolio modeling.

  • Create internal best practices related to Casualty Catastrophe modelling, including development and quantificaition of Realistic Disaster Scenarios, and modelling of Casualty Catastrophe risk by leveraging internal and external models.
  • Train and support colleagues and users on integrating long tail risk management and aggregation methodologies into underwriting, pricing and portfolio management and capital modeling.
  • Apply analytical expertise and product knowledge on a broad range of research assignments within the risk function including the development and enhancement of methodologies and systems for risk exposure analyses and accumulation control.
  • Liaise with businesses, external partners and other team members on projects to ensure clear understanding of data requirements, quality and completeness of data provided including communication of risk management methodology, processes and risk appetite.
  • Develop resources, presentations and communication material for colleagues, management and leadership on risk management topics.
  • Lead annual Risk Appetite processes across insurance and reinsurance segments supporting underwriting strategy and capacity allocation decisions.
  • You will report to the Head of Long Tail Risk.

    We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills :

  • Either a degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Mathmatics, or equivalent quantitative field experience
  • Relevant experience in Casualty lines of business with understanding of insurance product offerings, underwriting, pricing, reserving, risk modelling, and reinsurance concepts.
  • Knowledge of catastrophe modelling including understanding of modeling concepts in a research setting would be benificial.
  • Results focused and able to work independently with demonstrated ability of creative problem solving and cirtical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
  • Relevant Insurance industry designations or equivalent a plus
