About the Role :

We have an excellent opportunity for a MS Dynamics NAV Support Developer to join our Group IT team within our busy, open plan shared service centre in Wakefield.

You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Navision ERP application within the Group, according to provided functional and technical design specifications.

Job in a Nutshell :

You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Navision ERP application within the Group, according to provided functional and technical design specifications.

You will Identify any potential design gaps and to provide insight into closing these. You will utilize appropriate Navision development tools and other software in order to develop, document, test and debug programs / objects which have been assigned in accordance with company methodologies, policies and procedures.

You will be responsible for performing comprehensive testing in order to verify that programs function correctly, and to ensure that modifications have not caused errors in other parts of the programs or in interfacing programs.

You will establishes check points at regular intervals to verify accuracy of the work in progress and act as a third line of support for issues related to the functionality.

Key accountabilities include :

  • Utilize established development tools, guidelines and conventions including but not limited to Navision development using C / AL in the C / CIDE environment on Navision 2009 or higher, Visual Studio, ASP.
  • NET, SQL Server, HTML, CSS.

  • Accountable for optimization-focused design to ensure that all code is written with high-availability and high-impact.
  • Proactive attitude to Quality Assurance, ensuring there is no inconsistency, deviation from specifications or decrease in performance.
  • Work to internal development methodologies, ensuring correct policies and procedures are followed and adhered to for release management and version control.
  • Create efficient and reusable middle tier logic using any of ASP.NET, VB.NET and XML.
  • Create and design databases, views, stored procedures, T-SQL statements and user-defined functions of varying complexity with a best practices approach to keys, indices and relationships in SQL Server.
  • Skills / experience required :

  • Strong experience in Navision 2009 or higher.
  • Technical Knowledge C / AL and C / CIDE environment, Visual Studio, ASP.NET, SQL Server, HTML, CSS.
  • A self motivated, team player, action and results oriented.
  • A Well organized, good communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to successfully work under tight project deadlines.
  • Desirable (but not essential) :

  • Experience of Microsoft SSRS is an advantage
  • Experience of development in a .NET environment is an advantage
