Analyst - Deal Value Creation
KPMG’s Deal Value Creation practice is looking for recently graduated Analysts with a keen interest in deals and M&A to support delivery of high quality value creation engagements for our Private Equity and Corporate clients and to play a key supporting role in building out the practice.
Context
The Deal Value Creation team part of KPMG Deal Advisory ( £450m revenue; 2,500 professionals) is developing an innovative Value Creation proposition to support investors, shareholders and C-suite throughout the ownership cycle of a Business.
This proposition provides our Private Equity and Corporate clients with a holistic, integrated portfolio of implementable value creation opportunities in all deal situations (pre-deal, post-deal, buyside and sellside), underpinned by advanced data analytics, industry insights, strategic and operational capabilities and execution experience.
The team is a cross functional (commercial, operational and digital) agile practice that architects and delivers value creation by bringing to bear the vast array of capabilities available inside the practice as well as the wider KPMG Advisory business (including Customer Experience, Pricing, Cost, Digital Transformation, ESG and Integration & Separation among others).

Role and responsibilities
To be an effective Analyst within our Deal Value Creation team, applicants will be expected to :
Support engagement teams with delivery of complex client engagements
Conduct market and company research and analysis
Collect and analyse large quantities of data, conduct client & SME interviews and develop presentation decks
Contribute to shaping the development and articulation of key insights and recommendations
Work collaboratively with other team members and the wider KPMG Deal Advisory team
Participate in regular internal team meetings and contribute to the delivery of initiatives to support growth and development of the team (client propositions, people development, practice development, etc)
Develop a quality control mindset and learn and adopt consulting best-practices (analytical accuracy, best-in-class data insights, infographics, reports and written / verbal delivery)
Support business development activity including thought leadership, pitches preparation and proposal writing
Understand and learn the Firm’s risk management frameworks and ensure these are adhered to at all times
Be able and willing to travel when necessary to support the delivery of client engagements as appropriate

Experience
1-2 years of experience and exposure (including internships) to M&A deals in one of the following areas would be advantageous : Value Creation;
Commercial Due Diligence; Operational Due Diligence; Strategic Reviews; Growth Strategy, Performance ImprovementExperience working in any of the following : Strategy House, Deals strategy / value creation team of a Big 4;
Turnaround House; Operations consultancy; Operations team of a large cap PE house; Corporate strategy / development team in industry Strong financial acumen with experience of analysing and using large quantities of data;
understanding P&L / financial statements
Skills
Demonstrable interest in deals and M&A, and understanding of the deal lifecycle (pre-deal, in-deal and post-deal)
Personal presence and impact, with the ability to earn trust and respect
Evidence of strong research, problem-solving and quantitative & analytical capabilities
Structured thinking skills combined with creativity ( both brains’ thinking)
Excellent interpersonal and English written & oral communication skills; other language skills would be a bonus
Strong presentation skills, organisational skills, teamworking and the ability to multi-task effectively
Versatility and desire to be involved in a variety of client engagements and a learning mind-set
Desire to get involved in supporting the practice building activities for a fast-growing team
Skilled PC User (MS Excel, MS Powerpoint); Working knowledge of Alteryx, PowerBI and Tableau a strong plus
