Lana Premadasa is currently recruiting for an Analytical Scientist to join the Health Division of a Global group and to be focused on the modification of the physical form properties of an active pharmaceutical ingredient to enable rapid development of candidate drugs.
As a leading provider of solid form contract research and development services to the international pharmaceutical and biotech industry, this is a challenging role for an ambitious individual wishing to develop their career.
Based in Cambridgeshire this role is offered on a full time permanent basis and comes with a competitive salary.
Key responsibilities will include :
Performing a range of assigned research experiments as directed by the Project Leader / Team Leader Analytical Services under minimal supervision
Interpreting experimental data and highlighting any interesting or unexpected results
Contributing to the design of experimental procedures
Reporting experiments accurately and promptly. Keeping laboratory notebooks up to date in accordance with the company's quality procedures.
Writing high quality reports for submission to customers
Efficiently managing projects when requested by the Head of Solid Form Services / Analytical Services Team Leader
Being responsible for, and troubleshooting & maintaining Analytical equipment
Demonstrating commitment to EH&S through actively participating in the company safety culture
You are required to have the following qualifications, skills and experience :
A degree (or equivalent experience) in a chemistry related discipline or pharmaceutical sciences
Experience working in an analytical services laboratory
Extensive experience in chromatographic techniques
HPLC experience is essential, experience with OpenLabs software preferable
Experience with residual solvents analysis by GC is preferable
The aptitude to work on multiple projects at any one time, and adapt generic methods and procedures to suit individual project requirements
Experience with line management or supervisory roles preferred to include the review and approval of analytical data
A good theoretical understanding of Physicochemical techniques such as pKa, LogP, Dissolution and solubility with practical experience in these related disciplines desirable
Experience in Pre-formulation development advantageous
Knowledge of GMP, GLP, and ISO 9001 is desirable
