In Tunnel and Underground Infrastructure, you will become part of 's Tunnels unit. Tunnel & Underground Infrastructure has hundreds of skilled experts worldwide and have one of the largest infrastructure departments in the world.

We are experienced in all types of tunnels and infrastructure in sectors ranging from railways, highways, metros to energy and power, and we cover the entire lifecycle of a project from idea, concept and design to operation and maintenance.

The Lower Thames Crossing is the single biggest roads investment project since the M25 was completed more than 30 years ago.

It will form a vital part of the UK's transport infrastructure and will help businesses large and small to grow and bring people and communities closer to job, education and leisure opportunities.

It will connect Essex and Kent and almost double road capacity across the Thames east of London.


In this position, you will join our global team of experts and work closely with the Tunnel Construction Lead. Your primary role will be to produce documentation, such as drawings, method statements, work plans and contract documents in support of the DCO process.

On a day to day basis, you will :

  • Assist and contribute to delivering safe, efficient, buildable, planning documents for the support of the DCO applications.
  • Assist and contribute to production of methodology planning, method statements, scope requirements, Employers Works Information and contract requirements documentation specific to STP.
  • Advise on STP topics such as size, space requirements, plant and equipment elements e.g. trommels, cyclones, filter presses, slurry pipelines, valving and control, water usage, used water treatment, waste material separation e.
  • g. sands, gravels, chalk sediment, power and other service requirements, and environmental considerations related to all of the above.

  • Assist with the production of CAD temporary works drawings including erection and dismantling sequences.
  • Consider and ensure all planning and methods accord with the relevant design regulations and meet all standards as appropriate for DCO.
  • To deliver parent company project governance requirements as required.

    Furthermore, you shall :

  • Have demonstrable experience on tunnelling projects and the use of STP's
  • Have gained experience of similar scale projects to LTC with STP context
  • Degree qualified in civil engineering or mining or similar such disciplines (or suitable practical experience to produce equivalence)
  • Possess a track record of delivering works to time and quality standards
  • Have demonstrable experience of working with large diameter TBM’s in a major infrastructure project
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and personal resilience to working under stress / different styles of leadership / being very proactive in getting things done
