The Opportunity

As a ETrade Trading Underwriter your main responsibilities will be

  • Grow profitable business with existing and new on the Business Combined etrade platform
  • Build and maintain relationships within assigned intermediary organisations to understand their strategy, culture, personalities, customer base and decision making and ensure they fully understand RSA’s SME Online propositions
  • Work with Development Underwriter / etrade consultants to develop, agree and maintain a yearly account plan for agreed intermediaries to achieve strategy and top and bottom line targets
  • Support training to brokers on RSA systems, supporting a change in behaviour and habits across the portfolio of brokers to maximize the use of e-Channels
  • Build working relationships with the Regional Sales Teams to agree how to effectively manage joint broker relationships
  • Clearly and positively articulating proposition and risk appetite internally and externally
  • Effectively negotiating and delivering underwriting decisions through following agreed processes at designated authority levels

    Minimum skills and experience required

  • Previous experience of underwriting or sales of Motor, Commercial Combined or Property products would be beneficial
  • Previous general underwriting or sales experience is necessary
  • You’ll need to be a driven and motivated team player with a hardworking, can do’ attitude and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
  • You’ll need lots of initiative and the ability to multi task to solve a variety of problems.
  • You will have a high degree of accuracy and a keen eye for detail. You do not need previous Insurance experience however you must be able to demonstrate your passion for delivering world class customer service
  • You will be a team player working to deliver on your team’s objectives as well as your own.
  • Finally a high level of enthusiasm, resilience and a good sense of fun will stand you in good stead for a role with the RSA Group.

    Introductory summary

    Jobs in this family involve trading with your customers to trade SME products through our online platforms. Your time will typically be spent between three main areas.

    Firstly, you will be using your specialist knowledge of E Trading as a key contact to trade & build relationships with brokers through our online offering.

    You will build relationships with a portfolio of brokers who have SME Online opportunities with RSA, in order to provide them with great sales and customer service in line with our online proposition.

    You will make underwriting decisions in line with your licence, consulting with higher licence holders on complex or non-

    standard referrals to. You will also work be working with underwriters across our business to develop the adoption of our E Trading capability

    Business Area

    We are part of the Commercial Risk Solutions division of RSA that specialises in writing all lines of Commercial business for Corporate customers in the UK.

    You will be joining a dynamic, highly motivated and successful Trading Centre delivering sales & service to all of the UK Regions Business.

    Developing strong relationships with our brokers and managing enquiries over the phone, in writing and sometimes face to face.

    Your sales and relationship skills will be crucial in building Broker relationships and helping to win and retain customers for the Group.

    You’ll have a keen eye for detail as we do work in a regulated environment, but training and support will be given so you can get to grips with our processes and procedures.
