Fulfill our commitment to Health and Safety (H&S). Deliver high-level H&S knowledge and monitoring so that we achieve the safest possible conditions at all our sites

Norish is a UK-based, multi-temperature warehousing and logistics business providing services to importers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and distributors.

This requires us to operate and maintain advanced Cold Store infrastructure in accordance with the highest levels of Health & Safety (H&S).

To this end, Norish is BRC certified and will soon be certified for ISO 9001. Can you help us to build on this commitment to outstanding H&S by acting as an expert and proactive H&S Specialist?

If so, please read on to find out more about an influential role with wide-ranging responsibilities across multiple sites.

A large and international structure

Norish belongs to the European group of companies belonging to the Nichirei Corporation. Thermotraffic is part of the same group and you will work with colleagues from both companies.

You will therefore be part of a substantial and proven company that offers all the resources necessary to do your job to the best of your ability.

Advice, monitoring and continuous improvement

Your core task as our H&S Specialist is to provide H&S advice and direction to individual sites. In doing so you measure and monitor individual, group and contractor performance against current legislation, best practices and company policies and procedures.

Based on this you aim to optimize a process of continuous improvement across H&S performance. In order to achieve this you :

  • Undertake all updates of H&S programs across the group inclusive of risk assessments and system updates;
  • Undertake scheduled Health and Safety site inspections of site activities and ensure that any actions arising from the inspection reports are closed out within set timescales;
  • Review all incident reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented;
  • Develop and review the construction phase of the H&S and Fire & Emergency plans and monitor implementation and adherence to plans.
  • Further, you assist in developing and delivering site inductions, produce H&S reports as requested, and chair regular H&S meetings with all sites.

    Our offer to you

    The role of H&S Specialist at Norish is an important and respected function in which you will enjoy an open and friendly working environment, along with the freedom to develop yourself personally and professionally.

    You will also benefit from :

  • A market-based salary plus pension, income protection and death in service benefits;
  • 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays;
  • The opportunity to work in a successful, global concern in food logistics;
  • Reimbursement of business mileage in accordance with company policy and UK legislation.
  • To apply for this position you should, ideally, have an H&S background in logistics and transport or cold storage and refrigeration.

    However, applicants with extensive H&S experience in other fields will also be considered.

    Beyond that, you are an organized, proactive and result-oriented professional with a rigorous eye for detail. You also possess the effective communication and interpersonal skills necessary to embed and maintain a willing culture of H&S excellence across all our operations.

    Ideally, you live within easy reach of our large site at Wrexham as this will be your main base, although hybrid working is possible.

    You will need to visit our other sites on a regular basis so it is essential that you are flexible and have a car as well as a clean driving license.

    The more formal requirements for the role are :

  • Completed education in NEBOSH & Tech or Grad IOSH;
  • Knowledge of food safety, specifically the BRC Food Safety Standard Global Food Safety Resource;
