Please note this is a shift based role.
Purpose of the role :
As Quality Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day to day operation of the quality gateways throughout the manufacturing process from BIW, Paint and General Assembly.
You will take a proactive lead in setting, managing and continuously improving McLaren vehicles’ quality standards so that customer expectations are exceeded.
You will also be responsible for the leadership of a large team of inspectors, team leaders and group leaders in a multi shift operating environment.
This is a Shift based role with rotating two weekly early & late shifts (06.00-15.00, 15.00-24.00)
Principal accountabilities :
Create and maintain standardised inspection packages for all quality gateways within Quality Operations’ responsibility
Develop, and ensure consistent use of, comprehensive operational Quality standards for use in the standardised inspection processes
Develop, maintain and / or improve a set of Quality metrics to provide a clear measure of the manufacturing process
Work cross functionally to drive quality principles into every aspect of our business
Control departmental budgets to target
Support the Head of Quality Operations on timely delivery of Quality divisional business targets, and local department objectives
Provide urgent containment response to issues found in Warranty and product audit and manage plant quality responses to critical line stop / stop shipment topics.
Determine and implement efficiencies within headcount, process, and budget
Ensure safe working practices
Support, drive and participate in practical problem-solving activities
Act as a mentor, support the development of team & group leaders within the area
Knowledge, skills & experience :
Experience within a Quality role at OEM or Tier One level organisation highly preferred
Experience of people managing
Problem solving skills able to train others
Capable using the MSOffice suite of software
Track record of delivering targets (S,Q,D,C)
Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools is a distinct advantage
Experience of using SAP & associated tools is also a distinct advantage
