Our client are a tier 2 main contractor who are currently operating at a turnover of £18M, they’re a family run company who have been working within surfacing and highways maintenance for over 40 years.
Our client have 2 offices, both based in North West London, which is where they do nearly all of their work, even though they sub contract projects in Surrey and Buckinghamshire also.
In terms of stability, my client are a cash rich company who are in a very strong and stable financial situation.
About the Opportunity
Due to the company’s expansion, there is need for a Quantity Surveyor to support the head of commercial, within their civil engineering and surfacing part of the company.
My client is looking for somebody who’s very hands on, somebody who can take responsibility and somebody who’s also willing to help in other parts of the company if needed, E.g. estimating.
The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring and managing costs on their responsible projects with the goal of making each as profitable as possible, ensuring the delivery of payment and the development of client relationships.
You will also be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements (as necessary) and will undertake general surveying of projects as required.
This will include reviewing and pricing of variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Commercial Director.
My client currently have 6 years left of their town centre project which is worth £10M a year to them, on top of that they’re hoping to land another 10 year project at the end of the month.
They are currently sub-contracting for some huge contractors such as Kier, Laing O’Rourke and Interserve.
The projects that you’ll be involved in will be highways. Footpaths, bridge repairs, hard and soft landscaping, playgrounds and surfacing within town centre aesthetic re generation schemes.
No free lances will be considered.

You’ll be rewarded with a very competitive salary ranging from £60,000 £70,000(depending on experience) + either a company car or car allowance.
About the requirements
You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to a Foundation Degree level (HND or HNC) in Construction, Civils, Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying (or hold an equivalent qualification).
It’s important you can demonstrate experience working within the civil engineering and highways maintenance sector working for a tier 2 or tier 3 sub-contractor or main contractor.
You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow you to get from office to site and other locations you might be required to visit.
