We also work with a number of schools and academies, the Welsh Government and hold a major contract with the NHS in Yorkshire and Humber.

Kier Workplace Services are currently looking to recruit a Contract Officer to manage contractual risk in the Facilities Management, Consultancy and Small Projects division in a safe and ethical manner, increase value, reduce cost, and drive profit.

In order to fulfil these requirements, the candidate will have an in depth knowledge of the various standard forms of construction and FM contracts and will be familiar with the contractual and legal issues encountered in the industry.

Key Responsibilities :

  • To assist the Commercial Manager in identifying risk in tender documents, contract documents, non-disclosure agreements, parent company guarantees, bonds, payment mechanisms, warranties, employment and pension agreements.
  • To apply the Kier corporate governance policies to documentation and identify where issues exist.
  • To assist in negotiating issues that are at odds with Kier’s policies or present an operational risk (this is likely to mean face to face meetings with both internal and external stakeholders).
  • To work with the business development team in ensuring the Kier governance process is followed at all times and that a fully auditable record is available.
  • To liaise with the Legal Department with regards the review of contractual terms.
  • Assist our Operation Teams with contractual queries on a day to day basis.
  • To register insurance incidents with our insurers and liaise with loss adjusters.
  • To work with the Commercial Team and wider business on a series of business improvement projects. Previous projects include a Business Continuity Plan, compiling data bases, property leases etc.
  • To manage the storage of contractual documents in a central location so that they can be easily accessed by all parts of the business.
  • To undertake tasks related to the Commercial function of the business.
  • Key Skills and Qualifications :

  • Previous experience of a similarrole.
  • Good communicator, verbally andwritten, and have a good level of computer literacy.
  • An in-depth knowledge andexperience of facilities management and / or small building works forms ofcontract.
  • Proactive nature with an ability toshow initiative.
  • An in-depth knowledge andexperience in building services, statuary regulations and compliance.
  • Please note the successful candidate willbe subject to a DBS check
