We are seeking a director of engineering with outstanding leadership and management qualities, as well as a clear vision for the future of the open source desktop.
The nature of the work requires a deep understanding of the existing Linux desktop technology stack and community dynamics across multiple upstream projects.
Candidates must have experience of engineering management in a company that ships software products, and the Linux desktop technology stack.
Software engineering at Canonical is entirely distributed. We meet twice a year for stretches of up to two weeks. International travel is required to participate in those meetings.
As a senior lead in our engineering organisation, this role is expected to have a clear view of their product and community strategy and how that fits into the broader Canonical Ubuntu narrative of enterprise and community open source.
