Teaching Assistants are wonderful additions to the education sector. The role entails supporting students throughout their time at school to achieve their full potential.
This can be within a class room setting or with hands on life skills in alternative provisions.

Students who require support have special educational needs. These needs can include Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Downs Syndrome, Specific Learning Difficulties and Speech, Language and Communication needs.
This is not an exhaustive list, but identifies some of the needs students may have that require support. Students have a variety of needs and as you develop a working relationship with the children, you will be able to actively identify and implement effective support for students based on their individual needs.
Teacher assistants typically do the following : Reinforce lessons presented by teachers by reviewing material with students one-on-one or in small groups.
Raise overall achievement and involvement in the area or class in which they are working by providing dedicated support in the classroom.
