Job Title : Internal Sales / Branch Assistant
Location : BML Hayley Telford, Unit 1, Halesfield 21, Telford, Shropshire, TF7 4QX
Working Hours : 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, plus 1 in 4 Saturday mornings. (Additional working hours may be required)
Main duties & responsibilities
Efficient response to incoming phone enquiries and orders
Achieve profitable sale of goods across the product range, up-selling as appropriate
Build rapport with customers, establishing credibility when providing product and service information
Prompt follow-up on customer enquiries not immediately resolved
Utilise Hayley’s bespoke IT system to accurately identify, source and price items; to accurately record enquiries and orders, invoices and other documentation
Undertake ad hoc purchasing tasks, including placing orders with suppliers
Work with management / colleagues to identify improvements to services and products
Research and source solutions using the internet and Hayley’s bespoke IT package
Resolve customer invoice queries, liaising with Hayley HQ Accounts team and other Hayley colleagues as appropriate
Sales and purchasing admin support including accurate filing and retrieval of documentation
Picking orders efficiently and accurately
Packing and dispatching orders (boxed or palletised) via internal and external transport
Stock processing receipt of goods, paperwork and shelving
Stock-taking counting and weighing from system
Counterchecking orders
Goods In receipt of goods, loading and unloading of vehicles
Trade counter sales serving customers
Use of pallet trucks, trolleys
Liaising with other branches across the network
To undertake other similar or associated duties as may be assigned to you
Knowledge & Skills requirements
Experience in industrial distribution would be an advantage but is not essential
Ideal candidate will have relevant product knowledge of engineering consumables
Willing and able to learn about and support new products
Proficient in basic computer applications
Professional level of verbal and written communication skills, as well as good numerical skills
Customer focused, driven to provide consistently high levels of service
Margin-aware, flexible and a strong team player
Knowledge of engineering products and processes is desirable, however not essential
Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
Good work ethic
Good telephone manner and able to work as part of a team
Good problem-solver
