About the role

Learning disabilities and autism affect people in different ways so the role is very varied. Your day will involve supporting people with everyday tasks, for example cooking, cleaning their homes and managing finances.

Many roles include supporting people with their personal care and medication needs. Find out more about these aspects of the role through videos on our main website.

You’ll also support individuals to access their community to do the things they enjoy, for example shopping, socialising, days out, visiting Day Centres, or accessing education, sporting and job opportunities.

You’ll build professional relationships based on trust, respect and understanding. It can at times be a challenging role, but knowing you’ve helped someone achieve their goals is inspiring and rewarding.

About you

You’re considerate, committed and respect people’s differences. Empathetic, you adapt your approach to individuals’ needs, have good communication skills and a positive, patient approach.

You come up with creative solutions to overcome challenges and have a can-do’ attitude. You’ll need to be flexible and able to work shifts including weekends and evenings / nights, as many roles include a 24 / 7 rota.

It’s also highly essential that you have a full driving licence. For some roles it would be great if you are willing to use your own vehicle on business we’ll pay mileage expenses for this.
