You will be responsible for the generation of the essential design outputs (Design Specification Pack) for custom implants, based on the surgeon validated design inputs generated by Implant Design Engineer.
Your outputs include drawings and models for assemblies and custom components, coating specifications, bill of materials, acceptance criteria and other specifications.
You will work with Product Quality and Operations counterparts at the Design for Manufacturing reviews in order to facilitate the Design transfer of the custom DSP in to manufacturing.
The creation, modification, distribution, and maintenance of custom drawings, models and specifications (DSP) in a timely fashion.
Working with Implant Design Engineers to convert the surgeon validated design inputs in to specifications via drawings and models.
Ascertaining manufacturing specifications and acceptance criteria by working with Operations and Product Quality counterparts.
Perform CAD V&V for drawings and designs ensuring any modifications to existing designs are reported appropriately before release.
Creation of drawings / models for other departments, such as fixture design for manufacturing / inspection.
Any other tasks that sits outside your current role from time to time to support the activities of the business.
Support Tasks :
Assisting in design work for R&D / Product Development projects as well as custom implants / instrumentation.
Update of drawings to BS8888 and ensure all drawings are properly dimensioned with full specifications and GD&T.

Qualifications, skills and desirable experience
The job requires :
Can use CAD to a high level to design 3D parametric models and assemblies using NX (or other mainstream software) taking into consideration manufacturing and inspection routes.
Draft, tolerance and apply GD&T correctly and precisely to BS 8888 and related standards.
Good understanding and qualification in mechanical engineering or similar.
Can support various departments, including manufacturing and inspection, and maintain strict document control.
Can implement drawing / document changes and distribute appropriately.
Can manage and schedule multiple projects both short and long term and keep to strict deadlines in a methodical manor.
Self-motivation and focus to work individually or in small team environments.
An eye for creative / innovative design and attention to detail.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Skills that could be advantageous but not necessarily essential :
Understanding of biomedical and biomechanical engineering, biotribology, or biomaterials.
Good understanding of Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
