Job Description

To provide a comprehensive, accurate and cost effective project management service for clients across various sectors.

Responsibilities include :

  • Delivery of commission obligations and internal project performance
  • Establishing effective communications across the project delivery, client and stakeholder teams
  • Taking the lead on problem solving and decision making
  • Team leadership, resource management and task allocation
  • Controlling the internal and external commercial aspects of projects across a range of contractual arrangements
  • Adoption of programme and business management systems across project teams
  • Mentoring more junior members of staff in project management
  • Securing opportunities and repeat business
  • Project Manager seconded into Highways England Operations East team delivering HE’s RIS 2 maintenance and renewal schemes for all aspects of their network in East region
  • PM will be responsible for multiple schemes bringing them from prelim design detailed design - construction. Schemes can include resurfacing, drainage, VRS, technology, bridge repairs, roadmarking / studs
  • Responsible for financial reporting and programming of their allocated schemes.
  • Programme team is based in HE Bedford office but the role can be performed remotely as has been the case for the past 12 months.
  • There is no requirement from HE that we travel to their offices currently but this may change to a max of 1 day a week. We are using TEAMS etc for meetings

  • Responsible for moving the schemes through the various passport governance system HE have called 3D Passport
  • Administering PSC contracts as a NEC delegate therefore NEC Accreditation and / or experience useful.
  • Experience working of highways construction and design desirable

  • Candidate Specification

  • Degree in a construction, engineering or project management subject
  • Membership of the APM / MRICS / MCIOB
  • Substantial project management expertise across a wide range of disciplines, contract / procurement routes and market sectors
  • Substantial experience of managing and leading large project teams to successful outcomes
  • Strong client and stakeholder relationship building skills
  • Effective communication, with clients, project team, contractor and business manager
  • High degree of commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls
  • Ability to create an enjoyable and fulfilling work environment
  • Desirable :

    Demonstrable track record of successful business development.
