The Group Controllership function of NBCUniversal Corporate & Networks International is ultimately responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate completion of monthly and quarterly financial closings in accordance with US GAAP.
The Group consolidates more than 30 legal entities and interfaces with operating companies in Western Europe, Asia Pacific, CEE, Latin America and North America as well as completing close activities for Corporate & Networks head office entities.
The Senior Accountant must ensure that there is a strong control environment to support the business and regularly review processes, identifying potential improvement opportunities.
They must also ensure that finances are accurately managed in accordance with company policy and relevant accounting standards.
The primary areas of focus of the role will be :
Supporting the Operational Finance team with monthly and quarterly closing processes, preparation of journal entries and corporate data requests.
This includes working closely with both domestic and international Operating Companies
Support the preparation, analysis and review of monthly balance sheet packs as well as more detailed quarterly consolidated Balance Sheet Variance Analysis
Maintain accounting for head office, holding and dormant companies
Prepare and post consolidation entries, and maintain the consolidation ledgers
Liaise with OpCo’s to understand, approve and post journal entries post close including FX coding after the automated FX routines
Work with finance teams and other Group businesses to prepare elimination entries on programming acquired from Group companies
Assist with adhoc projects including monthly close, legal entity rationalizations and consolidation ledger clean downs
Engage and influence cross functional teams on process improvement, compliance, or other projects requiring frequent interaction as well as official communications with all of the Business Unit HQ controllers (outside of Corporate and Networks) to present data, influence and manage to ensure that recharges are accepted in a timely fashion.
Key contact to support the finance and business community as the NBCU landscape changes both internationally and globally;
offer solutions alongside FP&A teams to ensure the most logical and compliant way of working
Work closely with tax and transfer pricing teams to ensure recharges across the international and domestic business are efficient and compliant
Month-end / Quarter-end Financial reporting
Responsible for the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and others as required
Identify and address the main risks in order to facilitate a clean close
Escalate any issues or risks to the Assistant Group Financial Controller and suggest timely solutions
Prepare Free Cash Flow forecast with variance commentary
Prepare intercompany recharges both intergroup and to other Business Units within NBCUniversal, Comcast and Sky
Management of Capgemini resource to assist in month and quarter end related activities; review of recharge and other close journals prepared by Capgemini
Completing statutory audit work and internal audit requirements to ensure deadlines are met and key issues escalated to the relevant stakeholder.
This includes preparation of the Corporate & Networks management fee through to transfer pricing sign off.
Governance, 3rd party & internal strategic partnerships
Support FinOps’ end-to-end P2P and R2R processes
Ad hoc project work as determined by Group Controller
General ledger & HQ support as businesses expand both internationally and globally
Perform standard and ad hoc analysis as required.
Qualified accountant (ACA / CIMA / ACCA)
Audit background preferable
Excellent excel, financial analytical skills are essential
Strong analytics and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and high standards in quality and accurate reporting
Strong influence and communication skills
Willingness to work flexible hours with tight deadlines
Strong candidates will be well organized and able to prioritize multiple and competing priorities
Experience of working with General Ledger and Consolidation systems : SAP / BPC / Business Warehouse
Experience of media / entertainment industry
International experience and experience of a head-office environment working across multiple business units
Experience working in a large multinational corporation with transfer pricing requirements
