The NHS Highland Chronic Pain Management Service is seeking to recruit a Clinical Nurse Manager, to join the clinical leadership of the Chronic Pain Management Service.

The Clinical Nurse Manager works collaboratively with the Consultants, Lead Physiotherapist, Principle Psychologist and Service Improvement Manager to provide leadership of the growing Chronic Pain Management Service.

Specific portfolios of work for the entire pain team include : strategic management, clinical guidelines and clinical governance.

The post holder provides the nursing leadership for the chronic pain service in NHS Highland (including A&B); providing supervision and managerial responsibility for the nursing staff as well as co-ordinating the planning, delivery and evaluation of the chronic pain nursing service across the region.

The Clinical Nurse Manager will work as an expert clinician providing assessments and treatment of patients with diverse, complex and chronic presentations within the Chronic Pain Service, managing their own caseload providing a high quality, expert and comprehensive clinical intervention to chronic pain patients, encouraging the patients’ practical application, evaluation and modification of pain management skills for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, within the framework of a cognitive behavioural approach.

The post holder will assess the bio-psychosocial needs of patients, provide teaching and goal setting for patients, review patients’ medication and devise plans for medication rationalisation and / or reduction, and take responsibility for patient groups.

The post holder will develop deliver and evaluate a training and education plan regarding chronic pain interventions, identifying innovative methods for sharing evidenced based practice across NHS Highland.

This is a permanent full-time 37.5 hr post based at Raigmore Hospital (however this can be negotiable).
