Controls Engineer British Gypsum Barrow Works

This role is working at British Gypsum's Barrow-upon-Soar plaster production plant, which came into operation in 1992, is the largest and most technologically advanced of its kind in the world.

Occupying a 57-acre site and including a new gypsum mine, the environmentally friendly plant producing Thistle plasters demonstrates British Gypsum's commitment to unmatched quality and service.

We require an experienced Controls Engineer to manage the SCADA, Plant PLC’s and software system interfaces across the mill area of our production facility.

This is an exciting opportunity focusing on the continuous improvement of our processes; optimising performance and reliability, improving and implementing automation where possible, whilst working on new innovations.

  • First and foremost, the safety of yourself and those around us is at the forefront of everything we do, you will proactively contribute to strengthen our safety culture.
  • Maintain and improve plant PLC, instrumentation and SCADA system along with software systems & interfaces
  • Develop and implement best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve the process performance.
  • Lead root cause analysis of Process & Control problems using World Class Manufacturing tools.
  • Ensure effective maintenance of the WinCC SCADA control systems and associated equipment.
  • What skills and experience are we looking for?

  • Experience as a control, electrical or electronic engineer
  • PLC knowledge of Siemens S7, Allen Bradley, Control Logics
  • In-Depth experience of plant Instrumentation and associated systems
  • Siemens WinCC SCADA Control Experience
  • Industrial Networking knowledge would be advantageous
  • SPC (Statistical Process Control) experience or willing to learn
