Job Location : London, UKAssociate Directors are leaders in the firm who offer solutions and advice to Exiger Advisory clients in managing their complex and critical financial crime compliance, risk and governance issues.

Financial crime compliance (FCC) expands beyond Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions & Embargoes and includes Anti-Fraud and Investigations, Anti-Bribery & Corruptions as well as other criminal offenses affecting a financial organization.

Typically working in teams, Associate Directors lead large complex assignments, and are responsible for overseeing the planning, execution and reporting stages of multiple advisory client engagements, as well as managing key client accounts.

Associate Directors have knowledge in a range of areas, are considered subject matter experts in some, and are aware of emerging industry and risk trends and contribute to thought leadership and new product design.

Business Development & Growth

  • Participate in business development initiatives that focus on identifying remediation opportunities across a range of FI’s and Corporates targeting external clients, attending industry conferences, drafting client alerts and white papers, and speaking engagements.
  • Ability to identify FCC sales opportunities and progress in conjunction with other team members.
  • Product Knowledge & Development

  • Experience in setting up and running large scale remedation projects, KYC and TM focused, supporting mobilisation and management activities
  • Input to the development of cutting edge Exiger products and services that will meet client remediation needs, and are considered globally where available.
  • Keep abreast, and maintain an understanding, of current and emerging regulations, regulatory drivers and business strategies to enable effective evaluation of governance, risk management and compliance environments in financial institutions and corporations.
  • Maintain an effective professional network to stay informed of developments within the industry.
  • Provide governance, compliance and risk management thought leadership and guidance via external presentations, publications etc.
  • Proactively help identify best practices across Exiger and externally with peers in the industry.
  • Leadership & Firm Governance

  • Be an inspiring leader across Exiger by acting as a mentor and coach, and by providing constructive feedback.
  • Responsible for oversight and technical execution of all compliance, risk and governance advisory work conducted by teams within areas of responsibility.
  • Development and management of teams.
  • Development and line management of junior level staff.
  • Assist in proposal development
  • Client Service

  • Responsible for overseeing effective planning, management and execution of client remediation engagements.
  • Lead teams on client engagements, ensuring teams are adequately supervised, delivering high quality products and services on time and to budget, and dealing with any barriers to progress appropriately.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders to enable open dialogue, win trust and become a trusted business partner.
  • Provide direction to enable team to evaluate client internal control structures to identify weaknesses, evaluate the general risk faced by the client, and the potential impact of those risks on the organization and the controls mechanisms in place to mitigate that risk.
  • Provide pragmatic advice concerning the practical implications of financial services regulation and how institutions should best manage these.
  • Knowledge & Skills

  • Deep understanding of the FCC regulatory frameworks and industry best practice, with particular emphasis on KYC and CDD requirements, in the UK and across the EU.
  • Demonstrable experience in running remediation projects within Financial Institutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role with people management, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess client’s requirements and develop a strategic plan to design, document and deliver a solution that meets those requirements.
  • Ability to organize and effectively handle multiple tasks and workflows in a fast paced environment, yet flexible enough to respond quickly to critical issues.
  • Ability to be resilient and adaptable on projects in order to execute in spite of complexities and complications.
  • Ability to interface with team members and client personnel in demanding, deadline-driven situations.
  • Ability to manage time and budgets.
  • Well-developed aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced, multi-task environment.
  • Highly motivated, hard-working, eager to learn, and able to motivate others

  • Professional Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA, Masters or Ph.D. Emphasis on Economics, Finance, Statistics, Math or related field a plus. CPA, JD, a plus.
  • Six plus years of experience specifically in compliance, risk and governance related work, with 2 years in a management and team supervisory and development role required.
  • Some exposure to business development / direct client relationship management.
  • Proficient with PC environments and related software, including Microsoft Office applications with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Additional language skills a plus.
  • Ability to travel outside of home country to meet client engagement needs.
