Job Summary

We are looking for a strong leader with proven change management experience and the ability to drive new thinking and continuous improvement.

As a subject matter expert, you will bring innovative solutions and drive faced paced change across our newly created shared service team : lead the design, creation and implementation of a Maximus UK vision for health, safety and environment (HSE).

Establish appropriate operating infrastructure : governance, policies and procedures that are aligned with best practice and are successfully implemented operationally to provide the highest-level assurance to the country leadership team.

Working closely with key stakeholders, develop appropriate systems and frameworks to embed a culture of quality and continuous improvement which are fit for growth.

Identifying appropriate toolkits to enable achievement of best in class operational standards across multiple geographic locations and operating models.

Essential Job Duties

  • Work collaboratively with leadership teams and key stakeholder : develop, articulate and deliver a clear strategic vision for HSE across Maximus UK
  • Act as subject matter expert and provide guidance and oversight ensuring that policies and procedures are aligned with good practice and current legislation
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of relevant industry updates and ensure the HSE team are continuously updating their learning
  • Develop effective governance protocols and accountability frameworks which enable continuous improvement and identification and mitigation of risks
  • Accountable for delivering appropriate systems and frameworks which enable achievement of best in class HSE performance
  • Make strategic proposals using sound business case development regarding investment and resourcing
  • Create effective stakeholder relationships ensuring HSE services are highly regarded across the organisation
  • Establish a resourcing strategy that is scalable and develops appropriate skills and capabilities to support business operations across multiple locations and operating models
  • Embed a safety culture which is best in class and is proactively embraced by all
  • Provide effective communication ensuring updates in guidance are understood and embedded
  • Oversee continuous improvement focused on each stage of the cycle : Plan, Do, Check, Act ensuring appropriate changes are planned and implemented
  • Education and Experience Requirements

  • Relevant functional qualification to a minimum Level 6 EHS Qualification (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent)
  • Membership of the Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in HSE environment with at least 2 years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar senior role, delivering the safety services strategy and leading health and safety services in a well-established organisation
  • Evidenced experience of implementing Quality Management Systems, HSE frameworks and delivering tangible performance improvement
  • Demonstrates experience in delivering effective compliance regimes within multi-site geographically dispersed environments
  • Experience in stakeholder and client facing roles in complex business settings
  • Evidenced successful change management experience
  • Successful in driving innovative solutions in multi-stakeholder environments
  • Track record in building a customer centric culture
  • Track record of managing teams to deliver high performance
