We are looking for an experienced Head of Operations for our Simulation and Training Products Business Unit. The role will report into the Head of Simulation and Training Products Business Unit.
Support the Head of Business Unit (HBU) by ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness of BU activities. Objective input into business planning processes ensuring that positions for work-
in-hand are accurate and that the forward work pipeline is being fully reported to HBU using a defendable approach to estimation and timing.
Apply technical domain knowledge gained through prior career experience to support the delivery performance of the business unit, coach and develop staff, drive operational innovations and support the HBU and wider team in opening-
up new business opportunities.
Ensure bids and projects are properly resourced and governed and that the processes of staff allocation to tasks takes account, to the greatest practicable extent, the often conflicting needs of customer delivery, staff development and project profitability.
Personally undertake bid and project management activity and contribute to project deliverables where appropriate.
Ensure a high quality of staff welfare and pastoral care across the business, leading by example to ensure that communications are regular and clear, performance reviews are regular and objective and that job descriptions are current, clear and drive accountability.
Overall responsibility to ensure that business processes are published, trained for, adhered to and efficient. Management, in conjunction with the Head of Business Support, of the Business Unit’s accreditations to appropriate standards for quality, health and safety, environment and security.
Implement an overall programme of effective software and product testing and documentation.
Effective relationships with HR, Finance and Commercial Business Partners at BMT Centre to ensure that the business unit is properly supported in these matters and that the Business Unit meets the reporting requirements of the Centre.
Processes for review and continuous improvement, particularly those relating to project delivery and customer satisfaction.
Stewardship of an effective risk management process for the Business Unit and input into Partnership-wide Risk Management reporting.
Required Personal Attributes and Competencies
Career experience and domain knowledge relevant to the Business Unit. In this context, likely to have a maritime operational background.
