We have an exciting opportunity to join our IT Service & Operations Teams as a System Center Automation Engineer to help us drive stability and improvements to our PayPoint IT Infrastructure while we continue to push forward with our next gen cloud technology and automation.
What will you be doing?
You will be involved in installations, support, and maintenance of our Windows Technologies in our infrastructure teams.
You will have the opportunity to deliver on automation initiatives which will align with our passion of DevOps practices.
We have many projects ready to roll out which will focus on improving the way we work within the teams and you could be a part of those initiatives.
You will be a key factor in delivering multiple System Center Migrations / Implementations such as : SCCM, SCOM, VMM and SCORCH
The ideal person will have a proven track record in the installation, support and maintenance of advanced system Centre Technologies and be able to demonstrate end to end provision and automation of these.
The System Center Engineer is responsible for ensuring all implemented solutions meet all regulatory requirements, namely PCI DSS, ISO27001, and Cyber Security Essentials.
This will include the introduction of standards to ensure conformity within the PayPoint environments
Responsibilities of the role
Responsible for all System Center Manager Technologies (SCCM / SCOM / SCORCH / VMM) applications and Infrastructure.
Designed and Implemented environment with multiple management groups monitoring over 2000 devices
Implement Unified dashboard solutions using Squaredup for System Center Operations Manager.
Implement and configure standard Microsoft Management Packs
Implement and configure 3rd party Management Packs
Evaluate new and existing technologies and provide recommendations for monitoring and enhancements
Take ownership of project work and BAU work to ensure the stability of all System Centre Environment
Troubleshoot, maintain and develop the System Center Environment comprised of (SCOM, VMM, SCCM & SCORCH)
Auditing and reporting of compliance status across the entire Server / Desktop estate
Coach and Mentor junior team members
Continual service improvement through best practise and new and innovative technologies
Update documentation, policies and procedures as well as ensuring that they are followed
Ensure performance metrics and monitoring is in place and provides the necessary details and alerts in line with the business expectations
Automate patching to the Windows Estate
Automate desktop builds via SCCM
What would we like from you?
Expert knowledge of Microsoft System Center Technologies
Minimum 3 years Production Infrastructure Support or Delivery
Detail orientated with strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven experience of scripting and automation with PowerShell, Bash, Python, Terraform
Proven Experience of current branch SCCM - Peer Cache, Distribution Points, OS deployment, Patching, Reporting in multi domain environment’s
Proven ability to document and explain designs
Expert knowledge around a range of server hardware and virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, and VMWare)
Expert knowledge of Windows Desktop and Server OS’s (including related services such as DNS, AD)
Expert knowledge of System Center (Including SCCM, SCOM, VMM) Deployment and Support
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure Technologies
Experience with installation, configuration and development of SCOM (Also creating bespoke management packs)
Expert knowledge of deploying patching via SCCM / SCORCH
Expert knowledge of creating and deploying software packages via SCCM / SCORCH
Expert knowledge of Group Policy
Expert knowledge in troubleshooting issues
Previous experience of VMWare scripting
Previous experience of Hyper-V scripting
Solid PowerShell, VBScripts and Batch Files scripting to automate task sequences and deployments
It would be great if you already have
PCI-DSS compliance knowledge
Experience of Windows Storage Spaces and Storage Spaces Direct
Azure Cloud Experience, in particular Azure Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, and Azure Log Insight
Have worked with Squared up
