Job Description Summary

Group Leader, Analytical R&D Lonza Slough

We are currently recruiting for an experienced professional to come and join our Analytical R&D team.

As a Group Leader within Analytical R&D, you will be responsible for leading a team to deliver high value technical innovation to Lonza, both via specialist Analytical projects and as part of the wider collaborative project teams.

In this role, you will be have direct line management responsibility, along with delivering scientific guidance to a team of four.

It will also involve elements of project leadership and execution, including laboratory based work.

This role will be split between line management of team 50%, and 50% practical planning, execution and closure of internal innovation processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execution of research projects within Lonza, specifically within Analytical R&D
  • People and resource management, ensuring the team’s development goals are sufficiently put in place, managing team expectations and career development.
  • General day to day line management of team

  • Maintaining awareness of scientific field by various different methods (e.g. reading journals, attending conferences)
  • What we are looking for :

  • Doctorate level / PHD level educated within life sciences preferred within Biochemistry / Protein Chemistry
  • Strong background in established analytical methods within the industry, including awareness of strengths and weaknesses of various approaches
  • Experience of managing a team within R&D
  • Strong understanding and practical expertise in at least one analytical area, with the ability to drive change within an organization.
  • Previous experience of introducing new technology within an organization
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills, ability to effectively influence with a wide range of senior stakeholders
