We provide advanced energy solutions to one in four of the FTSE 100 and have customers in 34 countries. We have an exciting opportunity for a Market and Competitor Insight Manager to assist us realise our ambitions in this fast moving and rapidly growing area of the market.

  • Location : Windsor, with UK and Global travel as required
  • The Role

    The purpose of the role is to keep stakeholders abreast of key market and competitor developments across our geographic footprint.

    And to advise on the implications for our corporate strategy, products and proposition development, our sales approach and our marketing plans.

    Accountabilities to include :

  • Be the recognised subject matter expert and trusted advisor for market and competitor insights
  • Continuously monitor CBS main markets to identify relevant industry trends, competitor activity and regulatory environment changes which affect the business
  • Share key developments and advise on the potential implications via regular newsletter, Yammer postings and ad hoc email
  • Develop and regularly update deep dive competitor and market landscape reports
  • Manage our Industry Analyst subscriptions and other suppliers as required
  • Respond to adhoc requests for market / competitor insights from key stakeholders
  • Collaborate effectively with the wider Centrica MCI community
  • The Person

    Competencies the successful candidate will have :

  • Subject matter expertise : High levels of distributed energy market and competitor understanding and a thirst for ongoing knowledge acquisition
  • Research : Familiarity with using a variety of secondary research tools and methods to interrogate internal sources, third party subscription services and public domain information
  • Communications : Excellent verbal and written communications. An ability to not only share information effectively, but to analyse, interpret and convey commercial implications
  • Collaboration : Must be able to work effectively with, and influence internal Centrica stakeholders and external parties
  • Technology : Advanced Microsoft Office user, particularly Excel and Powerpoint, to analyse and present insights
  • Flexibility : An ability to juggle priorities, to both work independently and as part of a team, as needed
  • Work Experience :

  • Deep knowledge of the distributed energy market, ideally across multiple markets gained from working for an energy company or analyst / consulting firm
  • A self-starter who is comfortable working with light direction and supervision in a fast moving, rapidly growing environment
  • Demonstrable experience of many of the accountabilities and competencies described
  • Education :

  • Degree level qualification, preferably science or business based - essential
  • Additional vocational qualifications (e.g. certification in competitor intelligence, analytics, market research, marketing) - desirable
  • Multilingual; French, Italian, Dutch or Spanish - desirable
