Job Purpose :

A challenging role heading up the UK and JE Cluster Finance Control Team,

Primary purpose is to ensure that effective key controls are in place weaknesses / gaps are addressed and escalated in timely manner across all areas within the UK and JE Cluster Controllers organisations.

Job Background / context :

The UK Cluster control team is set up and designed to review, design and monitor the control framework across all areas within the UK Cluster Controllers division of Finance.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Strengthen the UK and JE Control Framework, facilitate and implement best practices, act as the link to the Regional Control team and roll-
  • out across the region as applicable.

  • Understand the key processes, risks and controls within the UK and JE Controllers area, detect and address weaknesses in the design or execution of controls and escalate as required.
  • Oversee the review of Control Files performed by the UKCT using the regional guidelines and provide constructive feedback to interfacing teams, work with them to improve and strengthen the control environment per the gold-copy’ PRC’s.
  • Review and sense check quarterly MCA assessments for all UK Cluster Controller teams prior to submission to the system, challenge the content and ratings and present at the quarterly challenge meetings with the Regional Control team lead.
  • Chair the monthly UK Cluster Control Meetings discussing concerns and issues noted in the month facilitate and feedback information from other interactions which may affect the UK Controller teams.
  • Co-Chair the quarterly UK CEMP forum, take and send minutes to all attendees.
  • Facilitate and act as 1st point of contact with auditors (Internal and External) collate and communicate responses as necessary.
  • Monitor all CAPs for the UK MCA entity, help teams identify issues requiring a CAP and raise in ICAPS validate the requirements are met for CAP closure, provide a sense check of the actions taken and supporting documentation for any CAPs raised following an audit (both internal and external).
  • Work closely with the Regional and cluster control leads as well as the Regional and cluster reporting leads to implement a standard structure and approach for the UK and JE.
  • Work with interfacing teams to ensure compliance with global EUC policy requirements and help them eliminate the use of EUC’s.
  • Provide weekly updates to UK / JE teams to ensure due deliverables are highlighted.
  • AO for Expat and SBV reserve balance sheet accounts.
  • Work with the strategic sites to ensure controls performed by them on behalf of the UK / JE controllers are effective with good consistent monitoring methodologies.
  • Attend Regional and Global control calls as required, respond to any queries raised for the UK and JE.
  • Act as UK Controller delegate, attend forum’s / meeting’s as and when required and feedback all relevant information.
  • Interpret any new / changes to policy, provide a summary to UK / JE controllers to ensure they are compliant document any gaps noted and help teams to implement a solution to address them.
  • Provide support and guidance to UK / JE controller teams on control related topics.
  • Ensure Gold-Copy PRC’s are implemented with any exceptions documented accordingly.

  • Through this role the successful candidate would gain an in-depth understanding of the control framework and more widely of bank operations, gaining exposure to all areas of the organisation and understanding how Finance is structured to meet the expectations and requirements both from senior management and external regulators.
  • An in-depth understanding of the key finance processes across functions, key risks and controls.
  • Knowledge / Experience :

  • Experience in a Controllers organisation within Citi or within the Financial Industry
  • Experience in the preparation and Audit of Financial statements
  • Extensive years of Auditing experience + / or financial / management account experience
  • Ability to interpret financial statements
  • Ability to Interpret policies and concisely summarise
  • Understanding of Local Regulatory Reporting, Legal Entity Month End Close and Statutory Reporting functions
  • Skills :

  • Able to communicate and coordinate effectively across a wide range of people, different functions and levels of seniority.
  • Good analytical and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work to strict timelines.
  • Able to interpret policies to ensure UK / JE are compliant
  • Qualifications :

  • Degree and a Finance Accounting / controller background (required)
