Job Description

Drive design thinking to capture and translate insights into innovation opportunities that deliver value to customers in new ways through operations.

Champion creative, design-focused thinking in the organization and partner with deep institutional knowledge-holders, such as channel experts, to inform innovation process, creating new ways of directly addressing customer needs.

Serve as CGSO resident expert on Innovation.

  • Implement structured innovation methodology and framework for turning ideas into action through impact studies and pilot programs
  • Collaborate with internal business experts to discover and develop innovative capabilities, processes and tools
  • Partner and consult with internal clients to identify, plan and execute innovation efforts; help them better understand what problems they are trying to solve, articulate their vision and define and enable success.
  • Provide methods and resources to support their execution of those plans.

  • Develop new ideas that solve existing or emerging issues that the business faces. Prototype and evaluate those ideas to determine viability and opportunity for success and follow through to implementation as necessary.
  • Create initiative recommendations on regular cycles for strategic review and assessment
  • Partner with Enterprise Innovation to align key priorities, incorporating CGSO-relevant concepts and initiatives
  • Ensure balance in innovation pursuits across business functions and lines of business
  • Partner with Sr. Manager, Strategy and Innovation, Principal Strategy Advisor, Portfolio Mgr. and business leads to deploy proven, strategically-
  • aligned innovations into operational processes

  • Advise Manager, Strategy and Innovation, Principal strategic advisor, and senior leadership on market developments related to operations.
  • Hiring Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6 years of experience in health payer operations, strategic planning, competitive intelligence, and / or enterprise innovation
  • Or Master’s degree and 4 years of experience as listed above
  • If no degree, 8 years of experience as listed above
  • 3 years of experience leading projects or programs
  • Hiring Preferences

  • Advanced degree in Business, Health Mgmt. or related field
  • Training and experience in structured, end-to-end innovation processes including project delivery, value assessment and design thinking
  • Creative mindset
  • Strategic thinking with consultative problem-solving approach
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills with proven experience identifying and capturing value from strategic initiatives
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytic / quantitative skills. Facilitation and presentation skills needed
