    Supportability Engineer

    Location : London Waterloo

    This is an exciting opportunity to join our Thales’ Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) business unit as a Supportability Engineer based in London, Waterloo.

    The primary purpose of the role is to undertake Through Life Support Engineering (TLSE) activities and supportability analysis for a portfolio of new and in service assets predominantly associated with the TFL portfolio.

    The assets are at various stages within their lifecycle and the post holder will be required to take a proactive cradle to grave approach.

    Key success in the role is demonstrated through proactive planning, analysis and generating cost effective obsolescence mitigations that are realised within the programme portfolio

    Key responsibilities and tasks :

  • Carry out traditional Supportability and Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) analysis, such as Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Testability (RAMT) Studies
  • Interrogate the Asset and Cable Management System (ACMS) used on Connect and other relevant databases (SAP, Oracle, Palma) for evaluation of Asset stock levels and install populations.
  • Attendance at Customer, Supplier, and partner meetings as required.
  • Provision of support to Business Development activities and tender, or variation responses
  • Additional project specific activities as agreed with Project and Functional Managers, including but not limited to Business and Service improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute evaluated recommendations to the operational teams which extend life of assets, for example changes to tools, testing methods, or maintenance practices.
  • Identify and ensure Supportability risk and opportunity is recorded within the relevant Project register.
  • Proactively monitor obsolescence issues (current or forecasted) affecting the programme operations.
  • Recommend mitigation actions, or options, to the Programme(s).
  • Raise Last Time Buy or All Time Buy requests and oversee the procurement (in collaboration with Purchasing team)
  • Co-ordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including project teams who are involved in operational maintenance and projects generating frequent changes to the installed asset base.
  • Ensure the end to end expectations of Customers, internal and external; and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) are aligned.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be requested from time to time.
  • Skills, Experience and Qualifications :

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft® Tools, including Visio
  • Ability read and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical documentation, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure, and manuals
  • Good analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills,
  • Ability to communicate Supportability themes in ley-terminology to Customers, peers and seniors using reports, correspondence and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently, within a given framework, or within a team environment
  • Ability to prioritise issues, and workload, managing time effectively
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Effective co-ordination and organisational skills
  • Commercial awareness, both business and customer orientated
  • A degree in a relevant Engineering subject, or an equivalent Higher Qualification, or practical and academic experience commensurate with the technical requirements of the role.
  • Have significant Supportability / ILS experience including :

  • RAMT Studies
  • FMECA
  • Logistics Support Analysis
  • Spares Provisioning
