Role Overview We are looking for a Mechanical Designer to support a variety of exciting projects within Engineering Development.
Engineering Development has recently won several large important projects and has a host of new and exciting opportunities in nuclear fusion, new reactor development, nuclear decommissioning and operational reactor maintenance and support.
This role will be based in our Birchwood office in the North West of the UK but there will be a need for periodic visits to client sites, as projects require.

Skills / Experience
Innovative and creative
Mechanical handling experience
In-Cell / Nuclear Containment Design Experience
Minimum HNC / BTEC
Competent in the use of 2D and 3D Autodesk computer aided drafting packages
Knowledge of relevant drawing standards BS8888, BS5070 and BS EN 61082
Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in the Nuclear Industry
Knowledge and experience of the EDF Energy design process is advantageous
Knowledge and experience of EDF Energy standards is advantageous
Awareness of Designer Role’ CDM regulatory requirements
Good communication skills both oral and written Responsibilities
Develop design concepts into scheme drawings and translate into General Arrangement, Sub-Assembly and detail drawings in accordance with British Standard and client specifications.
Work alongside and support fellow design team members.
Liaise with other engineering disciplines.
Prepare for and attend design reviews / HAZOPS as required.
Work alongside Mechanical Design Lead and Mechanical Engineer to develop engineering concepts
