Apprentice and Skills Development Coaches (Engineering disciplines)

In response to growth in the business, we are looking to expand our team. We currently have a number of vacancies for Apprentice and Skills Development Coaches (Engineering disciplines) at our site in Samlesbury.

As Apprentice and Skills Development Coaches (Engineering disciplines), you will be responsible for delivering outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices that engage and inspire apprentices to fulfil their individual potential and develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to successfully progress into the business.

These roles will provide you with the opportunity to be part of the team that works out of BAE System’s multi-million pound Academy for Skills and Knowledge to deliver Advanced, Higher and Degree Apprenticeships.

We invest £90m into our Early Careers and Skills Programmes annually, with 2,000 Apprentice learners currently in the UK.

Your main responsibilities as Apprentice and Skills Development Coaches (Engineering disciplines) will involve :

Coaching apprentices to reach their full potential by providing key support, mentoring, challenging and motivating throughout all aspects of their learning journey

Assessing and monitoring learner progress & performance in line with the apprenticeship standards and the occupational expectations of the business

Accurately maintaining and recording data in accordance with funding and awarding body requirements and effectively managing the progress and performance of an allocated cohort of apprentices

Effectively planning, supporting and monitoring apprentice placements ensuring clear objectives and alignment to the development of required skills, knowledge and behaviours

Taking professional pride in their role and embrace continuous professional development opportunities in support of delivering innovative and impactful teaching, learning and assessment

Enacting effective programme delivery that utilises a coaching and blended learning pedagogy to train, monitor, develop and assess apprentices against relevant qualification Standards / frameworks in support of them attaining occupational competence

Effectively communicating within the business to ensure all stakeholders involved in the apprentice learner journey are clear on their roles and responsibilities and working in support of the individual learning plan

Providing and monitoring the effective safeguarding, SHE, welfare and support arrangements for apprentices throughout their programme

Your skills and qualifications as Apprentice and Skills Development Coaches (Engineering disciplines) :

Essential :

Skilled engineering professional with occupational competence to a minimum of NVQ 4 or equivalent, including academic qualifications

Familiarisation in one of the relevant areas; experience in Aircraft operations such as Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, CFC, CAD or Hydraulics.

Excellent knowledge of technical skill discipline

Strong coaching skills

Highly organised and detail conscious

Desirable :

Knowledge and experience of assessment / verification practices and awarding body requirements

Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted CIF requirements

Knowledge and understanding of awarding organisations and professional engineering institutes

Assessor qualification

Salary : £33 744+
