Our London based client is a global drinks company with an exceptional portfolio of premium drinks brands. They are looking to recruit a Quality Assurance Manager who will be responsible for ensuring that their products meet market-leading quality standards.

This will be achieved by ensuring Health and Safety standards are led and met by the Quality Team, as well as establishing and maintaining a quality management system on the site to ensure that beer is produced to their specifications.

The role will ensure the brewery complies with external food safety standards including HACCP, SALSA and the Feed Materials Assurance Scheme (FEMAS).

The QA Manager is responsible for the following key outputs and accountabilities

Health and Safety

  • Lead by example, adhering to all Health and Safety policies and procedures to a drive safety culture in the work place.
  • Challenge unsafe practices, identify and report hazards and near misses. Encourage the team to do the same.
  • Work with relevant departments to close off reported hazards in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all Risk Assessment’s and Standard Operating procedures are current, have been reviewed and are adhered with.
  • Quality

  • To lead and be the responsible person for ensuring that beer produced meets the quality requirements set out by both our internal specifications and external bodies.
  • Be responsible for leading and ensuring compliance / implementing standards as required by relevant food quality standard agencies and legislation guidelines.
  • Understand and define the requirements and gain / retain compliance for external audit accreditations.
  • Ensure the effective running and cost control of the on-site laboratory
  • Own and oversee a robust Quality control system that detects issues and implements timely corrective action plans, in collaboration with production teams, utilising RCA or PDCA techniques.
  • Responsible for overseeing the Quality Management Systems :
  • o Ensure accurate results into LIMS taking care to safeguard product traceability.

    o Ensure QA department results are processed in a timely manner to help production departments keep to schedule.

    o Communicate product status clearly and effectively to relevant areas.

  • Contribute and embed quality requirements in the delivery of relevant capital expenditure (Capital Projects) projects within across the site.
  • People

  • Engage and ensure that the team understand the strategy, their part in its achievement and the rigor of maintaining and improving the individual quality and character of all products
  • Coach, lead and manage the Quality team to create a committed, bold and curious team. Create the environment to ensure the personal development needs of the team are met.
  • Ensure excellent team communication is maintained and empower the team in the creation and delivery of routine tasks, and to challenge the status quo
  • Identify and implement timely responses and remedies to overcome performance issues to ensure delivery of the Production targets and KPI’s.
  • Overall responsibility for motivating, assessing training requirements and dealing with employee relations issues within the team.
  • Experience required :

  • HACCP trained
  • TACCP / VACCP trained
  • Relevant degree in Science, Food Safety or Brewing discipline
  • Extensive prior experience in Quality Control, preferably in the food & drink sector
  • Strong IT skills including experience with LIMS or equivalent laboratory database
