Senior Underwriter (Casualty)

The Opportunity :
We are looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our team, this is your chance to create your career in an exciting environment where anything is possible.
The The international markets division is made up of property, casualty risks worldwide, complementing extensive global portfolios of marine and energy business.
Support the Casualty RUM in preparation of the annual business plan, report on progress, identify deviations, recommend remedial action, implement it in order to secure delivery of the plan.
Ensure the teams awareness of the business plan and ongoing performance against this plan
Perform complex underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met.
Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.
Ensure the recording and measurement of insurance risks, including DUA’s where relevant, to ensure accuracy and good practice.
Apply any reinsurance requirements to minimize risk and to deliver business plan objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including customers, brokers, industry bodies, business partners and colleagues to maximize influence and achieve business objectives.
Underwrite complex insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and the personal authority to meet business objectives
Work collegiately with colleagues to deliver cross product solutions and client engagement
Partner with other product lines via internal forums and other meetings to leverage opportunities in line with business objectives
ACII qualified or progress towards
Substantial experience gained within the insurance industry
Thorough knowledge of casualty underwriting
Strong established customer and broker relationships
Intermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages
Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
A high level of numeracy and literacy
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
Strong analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent negotiating skills
Ability to analyse data and use for decision-making
Use of risk profiling and pricing tools and loss models
