Position Summary

We are looking for a mid-level associate to join our LondonFinancial Restructuring and Insolvency team. A team player with strongcommunication skills, you will be joining a small team that works on a widevariety of matters, focusing on complex cross-border restructurings andinsolvencies, special situations investing and rescue financing.

You should expect to work closely with partners and seniorassociates. Our small, high-performing team has a flat structure, offeringassociates a high degree of responsibility earlier on in their careers.

Contributing to our business development activities, you will researchpotential opportunities, and participate in our regular pitches, as well asbeing encouraged to develop your own client relationships that align with ourteam strategy.

Responding to client needs means being flexible about yourapproach to working hours. You will be comfortable dealing with deadlines andbe proactive in your approach to anticipating client needs.

Your caseload willinclude a varied, broad-ranging portfolio of client matters, spanning multiplejurisdictions. Working alongside colleagues from other practice groups andoffices across the firm, you will be comfortable managing several workstreamsand will take responsibility for your own work.

Our Practice Area

The Financial Restructuring and Insolvency practice is afast-growing group dedicated to representing clients on a broad range ofcross-border restructuring, acquisitions and debt financings.

The quality ofthe work and caliber of the team is first-rate; we have advised on many notablematters, and developed long-term relationships with prominent institutions andcompanies.

Our work often spans other specialties within the Firm, such asM&A and project finance, and associates will work on a wide range ofmatters, developing both in-depth and wide-ranging knowledge of the sector.

You will be expected to handle a wide range of responsibilities,ranging from legal and factual research to drafting written responses andworking on business development pitches.

Duties andAccountabilities

  • Transactional and advisory work, involvement in commercial discussions alongside clients from the outset to advise on structuring and implementation.
  • Advising a wide range of clients with different interests : e.g. advising creditors / bondholders vs company-side.
  • Conducting and overseeing legal research.
  • Providing education and training to junior team members.
  • Qualifications

  • Between 2 and 4 years’ post qualification experience in financial restructuring and insolvency work at a top-tier international law firm.
  • Demonstrate technical excellence and commercial awareness.
  • Flexibility to handle a broad range of work across different sectors.
  • Extensive experience acting for top tier lenders and sponsors in connection with cross-border leveraged finance transactions.
  • Experience with high yield bond transactions is an advantage.
