Our Earn While You Learn program offers apprenticeships from Level 2 up to Level 6.

    You will spend 80% of your hours a week working in a real council role making a difference to residents and the remaining 20% will be spent studying towards a widely recognised qualification.

    After you have successfully completed the apprenticeship, you will have gained valuable workplace experience and attained a professional qualification that will open doors to your future career pathway.

    Role Responsibilities :

    Working in Hammersmith & Fulham Council you will :

  • Deliver a range of administrative functions including responding to queries, managing diaries and supporting with meetings.
  • Maintain and update records and support teams with data entry and numerical data.
  • Develop professional relationships with your own team and with others who we work alongside and provide services to.
  • Build on your existing communication skills, gain invaluable experience and build your self-confidence through your day-to-day workplace activities.
  • Some roles will have special requirements (see each role profile for more information) and may require you to obtain satisfactory clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

    Within your role you will :

  • Complete a Level 2-6 qualification funded by the Council. This will involve attendance at a college and / or completing tasks in the workplace (depending on specific course requirement).
  • Join a personal and professional development programme that will involve a series of varied development activities and events throughout your time with the Council.
  • Attitude Matters

    Hammersmith and Fulham Council recruit as much for attitude as we do experience therefore, we will expect our applicant’s to be enthusiastic, keen to learn and adaptable to change which are some of the key skills we will look for at the selection process.

    In addition, we are looking for team players, good communicators and have a basic knowledge of IT.

    This vacancy will be open to :

  • Anyone aged 16 & above who is keen to learn
  • We welcome applicants from all backgrounds including those with disabilities.
  • Residents who currently hold degrees or those looking for a career change or a first job opportunity.
  • To be eligible for the scheme you have to :

  • Currently not be undertaking any other formal form of study (e.g. college or university course).
  • Have lived in the UK for the past 3 years (as part of the funding requirement).
  • If you do hold any current qualifications, then you cannot complete a qualification in the same field at the same level or higher.
  • For example, if you wanted to apply for our Finance Level 3 apprenticeship then you cannot hold a finance qualification at Level 3 or higher.

    However, you could do an IT apprenticeship at Level 3 as this is a different sector.
