About the role
We are currently recruiting for a full-time and permanent Transport Supervisor in the Central Transport Team covering the transport operations at Elmsall Way, Redhouse RSC and Dearne Valley.
The role is diverse, and ensures the transport operation runs smoothly, cost effectively and legally across the shift.
It is essential that you are a proactive, customer-focused Transport Supervisor as you will be in constant contact with Drivers and the wider warehouse team of staff.
You will be actively supervising and co-ordinating a team of around 15 - 20 Drivers, ensuring everyone in your team is allocated the correct route and vehicle, taking into consideration Drivers’ hours and the vehicle mileage and maintenance schedule.
Transport Supervisors ensure that all relevant safety regulations, legal and Company policies are adhered to and that staff are aware of their individual responsibilities to ensure everyone’s safety at work.
You will be despatching Drivers with run sheets, manifests and vehicle check sheets and debriefing Drivers in accordance with Company requirements.
In order to avoid disruption to our services, a key element of this role is to ensure all vehicles are maintained according to schedule and are monitored for defects, taking the vehicle off road (VOR) as applicable and arranging prompt repair.
As a Transport Supervisor for Next, you are responsible for monitoring accidents / incidents and conducting relevant investigations and ensuring that all paperwork, reports and IT are completed accurately to meet defined deadlines.
To succeed in the role as Transport Supervisor, you should have experience of leading a team of 10+ and handling all associated people management related tasks.
You will possess excellent communication skills when dealing with colleagues at all levels including when handling difficult situations and be a real team player who thrives in a fast-paced, busy and challenging environment.
Previous experience of working within a similar role in transport is desirable along with good knowledge of Road Transport Regulations.
You must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Microsoft Excel.
We require one Supervisor for Redhouse and one for South Elmsall
