Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Supply Chain Managers are responsible for the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials.

They ensure the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at the established levels.

They coordinate and integrate the flow of materials and information among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and customers, identifying opportunities for improving efficiency, effectiveness and capabilities of the supply chain.

Resources are focused on continuous improvement of the movement of materials through production processes, and the establishment of key performance metrics and benchmarks to monitor actual performance against goals.

We are currently searching for a Supply Chain Manager located in Swindon site. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Supply Chain Manager is responsible for purchasing, planning, scheduling and monitoring of material through the production cycle.

Leading a team of 13 employees to deliver a timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control and planning of production material.

  • Establish department objectives and goals to provide organizational visibility on key metrics and attainment. Actively track weekly results and implement actions to drive needed improvement.
  • Key areas include Delivery / Billings; Past Due Performance; Inventory Management

  • Plan short and long-term production and inventory requirements considering such factors as forecasts, manpower, machine capacity, and material availability.
  • Anticipate and communicate potential shortages to appropriate plant personnel. Develop and execute recovery plans for anticipated shortages to eliminate / minimize impact to production and customers.
  • Perform root cause analysis for finished goods shortages and implement long term corrective actions.
  • Manage and take ownership of external suppliers, ensuring forecasts and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and target levels for purchased and produced parts to meet production and customer needs. Ensure target inventory goals are met.
  • Manage Procurement team to coordinate the flow of materials from suppliers to the plant.
  • Manage Planning team to coordinate the movement of materials through production processes using IBP, FP and SAP systems.
  • Develop and engage team members to excel at their roles.
  • Drive continuous improvements in supply chain processes and work standards using TE Operational Advantage tools.
  • What your background should look like :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in operations and or supply chain logistics and ideally direct people management.
  • Working knowledge and experience of all areas of Supply Chain, including Procurements, Logistics, Customer Service and Engineering is required.
  • Prior Planning and buying experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with low volume / high product mix.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills who can work across various functions, including sales, product management, material procurement and senior management.
  • Solid influencing skills, particularly where there is no reporting relationship.
  • Demonstrate understanding of logistics, financial and operational performance data.
  • Experience using ERP systems, (SAP experience strongly preferred).
  • Experience using Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to communicate with customers and suppliers.
