Jacobs is recruiting a Project Manager with experience in the nuclear industry to join our rapidly growing Decommissioning Services business.
This role will be based in our Birchwood office in the North West of the UK but there will be a need for visits to client sites to ensure smooth delivery of projects.
The Decommissioning business provides an exciting mixture of consultancy, engineering and project management support, along with delivery of challenging decommissioning related EPC projects, to major clients in the UK across both the civil nuclear and defence industries, including Dounreay, Sellafield Limited, Urenco and Magnox.
Overseas, we are delivering similarly interesting and exciting projects across the globe including project for clients in Central and Eastern Europe and Japan.
We are very proud to have supported these clients for many years, and our partnering arrangements will enable us to sustain and enhance this support in the long-term.
We also deliver a number of projects for other private companies and academia needing decommissioning solutions. As the business grows, We are looking for more Project Management capacity to ensure effective management of tenders, projects and client relationships, and in return we offer the right candidates an opportunity to take ownership for delivery and to provide support to develop their own skills so as to provide a successful outcome for customers. Responsibilities
Delivery of single EPC contracts or a small portfolio combined value up to circa £10M.
Direct interface with Clients to develop business opportunities; build relationships and communication on project progress and proactively manage change.
Delivery projects to the budgeted margins, effective contract change management and communication at every stage.
The management of projects safely, to time, quality standards, and to budget.
Proactive and adaptable approach suited to the diverse and challenging nature of the business.
Prepare and present formal monthly progress reports as part of business governance review.
Participating in the development and improvement of Project Management performance within the business.
Experience of project delivery in similar environments,
Experience in managing multiple small projects, multidiscipline projects, small scale EPC.
A good understanding of project planning (including scope management, Work Breakdown Structures, estimating and scheduling) and project control (including cost control, risk management and change management) to allow effective interaction with in-house project support teams,
Ability to participate in and influence commercial decision making,
Ability to understand and communicate effectively on project financial issues, margin, profit appraisals,
Ability to effectively form and lead teams and motivate staff,
An understanding of the legal, tendering and contract process to support the success of the business,
Experience of participating in negotiations with both clients and the supply chain would be advantageous,
Experience of manufacture, commissioning and site based implementation activities would be advantageous,
Knowledge of the engineering and safety case work within the nuclear industry or related industries would be advantageous,
Significant nuclear experience in a similar role or degree qualified in a related discipline,
An APM qualification and Japanese Language skills would be advantageous.
