This position is a key role within Discovery UK’s Lifestyle and Entertainment Brands Group, reporting into SVP, Head of Brands and working closely with all departments to ensure a cohesive, strategic and complete marketing and communications message across marketing, PR, digital / social and media planning.
Oversee the implementation of the marketing communications strategy for all 6 Lifestyle & Entertainment brands, through operational management of consumer and trade marketing, PR, digital and media planning disciplines.
Drive creativity at every opportunity, whilst ensuring cohesion and consistency.
Oversee the team to deliver integrated, engaging and compelling 360 campaigns around our brands and content in particular, UK commissions across Really, Quest Red, TLC, Food Network & Home.
Act as key liaison with the US and EMEA communications, marketing, consumer products and digital departments to ensure collaboration, and lead on projects / campaigns where relevant.
Develop and manage the annual marketing budget.
Identify, develop and implement barter and marketing partnerships with new and existing partners.
Manage and maintain a strong collaborative working relationship with all third-party agencies, both creative and media.
Oversee the marketing relationships with key affiliates; devising proactive activity and actioning reactive requests expediently, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
Launch and rebrand channels in the portfolio, where necessary.
Oversee the launch and ongoing promotional campaigns for Discovery UK’s OTT and DTC products, where relevant.
Work closely & collaboratively with Snr Director of Commissioning & Director of Scheduling and deputise for SVP Head of Brands when required.
Work closely & collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications Director, Factual & Sport Brands and VP UK Brand Strategy to ensure there is an effective, efficient and optimised network approach, particularly in relation to trade marketing.
Through strong leadership, manage the Marcomms team effectively. Coach and develop direct reports to ensure exceptional performance is achieved.
Act as a brand ambassador and guardian for all channels.
Highly experienced marketing & communications director with a proven track record in broadcast marketing
Significant experience of overseeing on-air, off-air, PR and digital / social media marketing campaigns
Strong understanding of brands and how to manage brand performance
Strong creative and project management skills
Excellent personal and written communication skills
Gravitas and experience of dealing effectively with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally
Accurate with a keen attention to detail
Passion for, and knowledge of entertainment content and a deep understanding of the TV and media industry
Strong understanding of key social media platforms including YouTube and working with influencers
The ability to remain highly focused and flexible while working under pressure on several high-level projects simultaneously
Understanding of complex international media businesses with multiple stakeholders and priorities
Ability to be able to think on your feet & come up with innovative, cross-platform ideas
