We are looking for Mechanical Engineers with strong water / wastewater sector design experience to join our growing team.
Your role will be to work collaboratively with the design team to provide mechanical design and support our client, Severn Trent Water.
Work collaboratively with members of the MMB and client team and contribute to creating a positive and engaging environment.
Support the technical development of the overall team and supervise the work of mechanical engineers, providing technical and professional guidance to aid their development.
Contribute to driving an excellence culture in the team, including identifying and addressing competency gaps
Deliver mechanical engineering design, including design quality control processes
Prepare and analyse key mechanical options, for review and agreement with the client and key project stakeholders ensuring risks and gaps are mitigated
Produce technical specifications and equipment schedules
Design calculations facilitating the sizing of mechanical, hydraulic, power generating and building services equipment
Engage collaboratively with suppliers and subcontractors and undertake technical reviews of their design
Collaborate with the design team to develop 3D models and solutions
Contribute to P&IDs and data sheets, HAZOP studies and commissioning plans, including proposed performance tests
Support the team in the drive towards excellence in Health & Safety, demonstrating applied knowledge and skills to produce safe designs to discharge your obligation according to CDM Regulations and standards
Appreciate the competing tensions of time, cost, and quality.
Manage safety, wellbeing, environment, and sustainability within your designs.
Understand the client’s standards and ensure that the mechanical design outputs comply with the required standards and quality requirements to achieve client acceptance.
Identify opportunities to innovate and develop the client’s standards to achieve value and efficiencies.
Contribute to achieving high client KPM scores.
Engage with the appropriate Mott MacDonald Practices and develop relationships with the wider Mott MacDonald Group to enhance our performance.
Qualified mechanical engineer with experience in water, or wastewater, non-infrastructure, and infrastructure design.
A broad experience of pumped systems.
Have a broad understanding of water sector process plant, and electrical and control systems.
Use of software package for carrying out mechanical design calculations.
Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
Understanding of designer’s responsibilities under CDM
Proven record in mentoring and developing junior staff in design.
Understanding of programme, budget and quality requirements.
An understanding of procurement and construction.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Salary range is competitive, commensurate with experience, skills and qualifications.
MMB are an adopter of agile working. Whilst the role does not require the candidate to be based in the Severn Trent area, the role will require them to be in the office approximately two days a week to collaborate with their team and the client.
