Mechanical Design Engineer

We’re seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer, who can apply their knowledge and skills in an innovative Design role.

We have built up a team passionate about developing products for a safer world and we are now looking for like-minded engineers to join us.

What does the job involve?

  • Design of products that comply with regulatory safety and environmental standards : EMC, RoHS, Reach, Weee and relevant Safety Directives
  • Applying your knowledge and skills in to innovative solutions
  • Working in a collaborative fashion with multi-disciplined engineers
  • What are we looking for?

  • Implementation of innovative design solutions
  • Creating, developing, and controlling mechanical detail and assembly drawings within PTC Windchill (preferable)
  • Solid foundation in Geometric Tolerances, Surface Finishes, Surface Treatments and Tolerance Analysis (working to BS 8888 mandatory)
  • A base of mechanical design validation via calculation and / or FEA
  • Evidence of analytical reasoning
  • Good 3D CAD skills
  • Precision mechanical design and assembly
  • Practical manufacture and assembly experience
  • Proven delivery of projects to timescales and budgets
  • In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and / or education history for up to three years.

    Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided. For further details of the evidence required to apply for Baseline and Security Clearance please refer to the Defence Business Services National Security Vetting (DBS NSV) Agency.
