Why this role matters

The Commercial Analyst supports the Commercial Trading Manager to drive performance in Wholesale trading. The individual works across all sectors understanding key market requirements and trading gaps to ensure there is an end to end trading plan which underpins the P&L & market share ambitions.

This role works closely with counterparts in Finance, Propositions and Sales Enablement teams to support trading. As well as helping to hold the sales team to account for sales performance, the holder of this role will understand the challenges the sales teams face and will make recommendations for initiatives and interventions, supported by sound analysis, to improve trading

What you'll be doing

Supports the commercial proposition, structure development and monitoring of financial performance for mid-sized opportunities, supporting in the management of contractual risks and obligations.

Contributes to delivery of contract commitment within cost targets, contract profit and revenue growth for a small subset of a larger contract or a subset of a small to medium sized contract.

Coordinates and evaluates opportunities and assesses underlying risk, making recommendations on how to address opportunities.

Contributes to maintenance and development of customer relationships and satisfaction, ensuring delivery of commitments within service level agreements.

Contributes to account development process by identifying and flagging growth opportunity areas.

Specifically this role is accountable for :

Generating insight and analysis on portfolio KPI’s, revenue, profitability & volumes

Developing, delivering and monitoring performance of Portfolio key metrics highlighting risks, threats and driving through recommendations

Owning the product trading rhythm including quarterly key stakeholder product reviews with wider audience focusing on key product drivers and initiatives to support trading

Coordinating and evaluating opportunities and assesses underlying risk, making recommendations on how to address opportunities.

Contributing to account development process by identifying and flagging growth opportunity areas.

Assisting with creating a holistic view of trading across of the Wholesale sales segments

Performing analysis to inform the weekly Wholesale trading meeting

Spotting opportunities to increase sales pipeline, communicating those to the team, and performing analysis to prove or disprove hypotheses

Performing ad hoc analysis to support the Wholesale strategy

Strong Commercial analytical and insight capability to assess the right course of action and modelling to enable investment choices

Previous experience within a similar role

Understanding of how P&L levers can be influenced to impact trading

Inquisitive, and interested in looking for data trends

Communication skills, specifically the ability to communicate complex messages simply

Stakeholder management, specifically the ability to influence up to Director level stakeholders
