PURPOSE OF ROLE :

The role of Solutions Architect is to be the design authority on projects ensuring all architectural considerations are met and compliance of new solution designs with ii's technology strategy and roadmaps.

The Solutions Architect works in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture and each Technology discipline across the IT function to ensure that the

appropriate technology strategy is set, and assists in the creation and

maintenance of the Technology Roadmap to deliver that strategy.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES :

  • Co-ordinate and assist in the development of projects and initiatives by ensuring architectural considerations are met.
  • Integrate the technical solutions with the business environment, recognising systems interdependencies and reusability, and ensure seamless delivery is provided.
  • Influence the development of technical standards.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of comprehensive processes for prevention of problems / issues.
  • Review project requirements with emphasis on functionality and system qualities.
  • Assist in the identification of opportunities to minimise cost.
  • Provide recommendations and / or implement corresponding process improvements as appropriate.
  • Deliver strategic solutions to support cost effectiveness.
  • Deliver effective solutions by providing consulting support, researching IT issues and opportunities, and overseeing the execution of recommendations.
  • Define technical requirements, specifications and performance objectives.
  • Foresee issues and gaps, identify, recommend, source, negotiate and implement IT solutions in support of current and future business objectives.
  • Develop and contribute to negotiations of contracts / agreements with clients and business partners.
  • Identify system modifications required to meet performance objectives.
  • Participate in problem determination and timely resolution of incidents.
  • TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

  • Architecture and technology planning, including systems architecture, emerging technology planning.
  • Ability to build and cost a solution from concept to technical solution.
  • Knowledge of business / IT Strategy, including coordination of information systems, understanding implications of business strategy for architecture.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks.
  • Knowledge of new and emerging technologies and industry best practice. Knowledge of project delivery methodology.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of at least one technical discipline.
  • Ability to build and cost a solution from concept to technical solution.
  • Know the Financial Services Sector specifically Wealth Management
  • Understanding of Investment products; characteristics and applications
  • Understand the principles of Treating Customers Fairly
  • Understand the principles of Training and Competence
  • Prior knowledge of ii systems desirable
  • SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt tools and techniques to fit the specific needs of ii in general and any given project in particular.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders both within the IT department and across the ii business as a whole
  • Ability to work with a range of third parties including suppliers and business partners.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication at all levels.
