1. Summary of Role Purpose :
As the Firm moves towards operational separation and the FRC enhances their remit in readiness for the establishment of ARGA in 2023, we need a Senior Manager level candidate to work in a Compliance Monitoring team to provide assurance that the process, procedures and controls in place to meet regulatory requirements are operating effectively.
The Senior Manager will play a key role in the Audit Compliance Team with the purpose of ensuring KPMG Audit UK has transparent, credible and respectful relationships with our Audit regulators built on trust and audit quality.
Support the Head of Compliance Monitoring to develop and maintain a regulatory compliance framework to ensure that KPMG Audit UK are able to understand and effectively manage its exposure to regulatory risk, ensuring a best practice approach is adopted and regulatory requirements are met. This is achieved through :
1. Providing respected advice and guidance on regulatory matters to the Audit business.
2. Providing strong independent challenge and oversight of the business.
3. Providing respected assurance to the Audit Executive and the Audit Board.
4. Having a strong and positive relationship with regulators.
2. Description of the role :
Support the Head of Compliance Monitoring in the development and delivery of a programme of outcome testing to provide assurance that end-to end processes and procedures are being followed correctly by the business, resulting in regulatory standards being met, including :
Identification of a population of risks for outcome testing.
Design, implementation and delivery of a standard review processes for assessing Audit outcomes against regulatory standards (in particular the FRC standards).
Producing MI, reporting on findings and making recommendations for improvements.
Providing feedback to the Audit business.
Undertake compliance reviews to provide assurance that specific elements of the quality framework are fit for purpose in delivering outcomes that meet regulatory standards and expectations.
Ad hoc support to DPP / ACE / Audit Risk / OGC / Practice Protection.
3. Role dimensions
3.1. Leadership & Management :
The Senior Manager will support the work of the Compliance Monitoring team of circa 5 colleagues.
3.2. Stakeholder Interaction & challenges :
The Senior Manager will report to the Head of Compliance Monitoring but also be required to interact with the Head of Audit Regulatory Compliance and Audit Chief Risk Officer and support the Head of Compliance Monitoring with their interaction with the Audit Executive, Audit Board, Risk Executive, OGC and more broadly with Partners across Audit.
3.3. Impact, Risk, Accountability & Governance :
This is a management role in an area of major risk, which impacts across Audit, Central Risk and OGC, with accountability for significant projects within audit risk management.
It will include preparation of reports and regulatory responses for senior leadership
Detailed understanding of the different types of service delivered out of the Audit Capability Group.
Experience delivering either financial statement audit or non-audit reporting engagements.
Understanding of the firm’s policies, processes and controls with the ability to identify weaknesses and make recommendations.
Managing multiple workstreams alongside unpredictable consultation workload.
Able to get to grips with technical content including law, regulation, assurance standards, contracts and policy and recommend how to apply to practical scenarios.
Confident in exploring and presenting issues and challenges with engagement leaders and Partners.
Experience of internal AQ, QCR, EQCR, QPR processes.
Experience of forensic accounting / DPP investigation methodologies.
Client facing experience.
