The SIF is a facility that allows our customers to run ships equipment to carry out trails and evaluations.
You will be working with the team to install that equipment in compliance with current regulations (BS 7671) etc. The electrical installations often differ from the usual; this is interesting work!
You will also be expected to carry out maintenance tasks as required as part of the mandatory maintenance at the SIF.
There is sometimes a need to respond to customers’ requirements at very short notice.
You will be primarily employed in the Shore Integration Facility (SIF), Portsdown Technology Park (PTP), Portsmouth.
You will be working with a small electrical team of highly dedicated engineers which is sometimes topped up with surge (sub contract) engineers.
You will be answerable to the SIF Electrical Lead.
Your main duties will be.
Provide Electrical support to the SIF, reporting to the SIF Electrical Team Leader.
Carry out Electrical Design for small to medium sized Electrical installations involving a variety of voltages and frequencies.
Further training will be provided where required.)
Initial Verification, and Periodic Inspecting and Testing of Electrical Installations
Work as an Authorised Person (Low Voltage) for the SIF (Training will be provided where required)
Carry out Electrical, Fibre and Data infrastructure installation work to the highest possible standard.
Carry out planned and reactive Electrical maintenance on all systems in the SIF and provide documentary evidence.
Support customer trials.
Fault finding and diagnosis of electrical systems.
Preparation & maintenance of documentation for electrical systems.
Operate Facility plant equipment (appropriate training will be provided).
Assist other teams and sites if required.
To be placed on the call out rota.
You will also be required, all training will be given.
Be able to work in confined spaces.
Work at height.
Carry out Authorised Persons (AP) duties.
Position Requirements :
Have Completed a recognized Apprenticeship, Level 3 NVQ in Electro technical Services (Electrical Installation Buildings & Structures) (or equivalent) or higher.
Or, suitable experience (evidence required).
Be ideally qualified to BS 7671 18th edition, or be 17th edition qualified training to upgrade to 18th . Training will be provided and is compulsory.
Demonstrate a good working knowledge of Industrial Electrical plant equipment; its operation and maintenance.
Be able to follow safe systems of work and standing instructions.
Have a good understanding of Electrical drawings and other technical documents.
Be computer literate with a reasonable understanding of common software packages, in particular basic operating knowledge of Microsoft office Word and Excel.
Be able to work and operate with the minimum of supervision.
It would be to your advantage if not training will be provided and is compulsory
Familiar with Amtech Fastest software.
Electrical Design of electrical installations.
