The Role

Platform Operations at Railsbank is a cross-functional Operations / Engineering team which is involved in multiple phases of our products lifecycle.

Platform Operations areas of expertise include tier-3 platform level support, observability, automation, operational excellence and technical customer advisory.

We are looking for you to :

  • Drive automation of manual day-to-day activities for all Operations teams.
  • Provide outstanding tier-3 support to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot and resolve simple and complex issues & customer requests.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure fast 24 / 7 incident response and resolution.
  • Monitor Railsbank platform health; provide analytics and forecasts for long-going trends.
  • Develop platform observability, define and implement monitoring and alerting requirements; serve as subject matter expert in observability and monitoring.
  • Define and document standard operating procedures. Create and maintain platform knowledge documentation.
  • Identify areas for process and efficiency improvement, recommend solutions and assist in overseeing implementation. Actively facilitate continuous process improvement.
  • Advice customers on technical implementation and help them to resolve their issues, carry over technical feedback into Product and Engineering teams.

    We are looking for the following skills / experience :

  • You love to automate away manual interactions and have a passion to help your team members (and yourself) to become more efficient by eliminating their toil.
  • You can work in both software engineering and operations, understanding how as a Service platforms run and scale from both standpoints.
  • Can debug both automated and human processes, identify inefficiencies and come up with improvements.
  • Can find balance in all things, understanding that sometimes the added complication is not worth the benefit.
  • You are experienced with http / json APIs using tools such as Postman.
  • Can demonstrate ability to support and administer large scale high volume production environments.
  • Proficient in searching and analysing application log files with ELK stack.
  • Experienced with monitoring & alerting tools (Grafana, PagerDuty, Site24x7 and others).
  • Experienced with Python and / or other scripting languages.
  • Familiar with SQL, able to write data queries on SQL database to investigate customer queries.
  • Familiar with Data Management tools like Snowflake, Databricks, Looker.
  • Experienced with Cloud environments : we work in AWS, AWS Lambda development experience would be a strong advantage.
  • Can equally easily find common language with a tech nerd and a sales person.
  • Professional experience in financial services would be an advantage.
  • Team player, including the ability to work well and contribute to the internal teams locally and internationally, as well as with diverse types of clients.
  • Positive and open minded outlook, able to contribute to the cultural aspects of the company.
  • Good organisational skills and the important ability to thrive in a fast moving, dynamic environment that is fun, while serious as well (we are responsible for other people’s money and we take this and our regulatory responsibilities very seriously).
  • This position sits in the Operations area of Railsbank and includes working as per the following rota :

  • Hours : Full time, 09 : 00-17 : 30
  • Additional hours : on-call rotation for 24 / 7 support
  • Unless agreed otherwise the role will be a full time role and you will be based in our London, Newcastle or Vilnius office.
