Commercial Partner Public Sector Specialist- Frameworks & Service

Why this role matters

The role assists in the delivery of the commercial and trading performance for the public sector business (£1bn revenue business) within Enterprise.

The role holder uses commercial acumen and performance insights to assist in the translation of the commercial plan for Public Sector into a holistic, integrated plan how we manage the mix of volumes, customers, contracts, propositions and solutions, partnerships and service.

In collaboration with the commercial planning and trading teams for Public Sector, this role sets performance expectations, targets and incentives.

The role creates insights from regular analysis and performance reviews against KPIs, to identify opportunities and gaps in the P&L, triggering and driving corrective action to ensure delivery of the commercial plan and overall P&L.

What you'll be doing

Understanding fundamental business & technology drivers for the Public Sector. Defining commercial strategy and interventions which deliver BT’s Public Sector P&L.

Support the Public Sector Sales leads assisting in collecting market insight and assessing the competitor landscape via working alongside key regional channels and contract management team to help develop commercial initiatives.

Good knowledge of key technologies relevant to Public Sector solutions. Clear vision of how technology is evolving in key business areas & what differentiates BT solutions.

Provide commercial support for Customer opportunities. Working closely with both external and internal Customers; involving Sales, products, propositions, service and Finance functions to define and deliver both commercial and technical propositions based upon customers’ business needs and competitive response.

Ensures successful delivery of P&L commitments within cost targets, contract profit and revenue growth

Specifically, this job is accountable for :

Ensure P&L targets achieved with the Public Sectors key Framework contracts. Identify key contract risks and commercial opportunities leading to resolution and execution.

Commercial reviews to identify areas for performance optimisation (across portfolio evolution, service and change control) and cost transformation.

Provides information to inform negotiations, conducts ongoing commercial reviews and develops initiatives during in life management of a contract.

Support the Sales and bid teams for any new Framework opportunities engaging with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate bespoke commercial support is provided, acting as the conduit across all lines of business to maximise the opportunity for BT and the Customer.

Working alongside Service teams to optimise, develop and create commercial initiates that are service related. Identify and understand Customer requirements associated with required products and propositions from a service perspective to underpin key deals, migration plans and initiatives to place BT in the most competitive position.

Create bottom up targets for all commercial initiatives with clear target ownership.

Input into forecasting and reviews associated with the MTP and trading performance for the Public Sector

Use Data Analytics - Uses complex data analysis to show underlying principles, process or systems improvements.

Stakeholder management influence and create alignment between potentially conflicting stakeholder needs, to recommend and get buy-

in to actions with greatest benefit for commercial and financial performance, across the MPS and Enterprise business.

Give Specialised Advice - Offers expert advice on subject expertise building rapport with stakeholders as a trusted advisor.

Be Agile - Uses collaborative or agile test and learn approaches, contributing to projects and programmes as a subject matter expert or content owner
