Job Description

  • Assist with maintaining the ICT network, desktop ICT and classroom audio-visual equipment, mobile devices, mobile phones and internal telephone systems, print management devices, associated hardware and software and connectivity
  • Assist with building, configuring, imaging and deploying all school ICT equipment including patching and software updates
  • User account management such as permission checks / changes, password resets, print quotas
  • Support school departments with their specific operational requirements including installation, set-up and support including ICT bookings
  • Perform weekly or agreed schedule checks of ICT suites and key ICT resources to ensure these are operation or fit for use by our staff, students and visitors
  • Support the IT Manager in the delivery of various projects as required
  • Assist with maintaining an up-to-date asset register for all hardware and software
  • Help users by providing appropriate information, support and training when required
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technology and trends and developments in areas of interest and relevance to the school
  • Any other duties that may be required from time to time to ensure continuity of service for the school
  • Hours of Duty

    As required for the performance of duties and will be a minimum of 37½ hours per week. The Apprentice ICT Support Technician will be based at the senior school and will be expected to attend jobs at either of the two junior schools on a regular basis.

    The duties of the Apprentice ICT Support Technician may occasionally necessitate working in the evening and at weekends. Any overtime is taken as time in lieu.

    Annual leave entitlement is expected to be taken during school holidays.

    £6.52 per hour

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 / C or above (Pass Grade)
  • Excellent ICT skills and knowledge of ICT technical support processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and Office 365.
  • Familiar with desktop ICT and classroom audio-visual equipment, mobile devices and mobile phones. Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Excellent communication skills, patience, tenacity and adaptability.
  • A cheerful and resourceful team player who works with energy and enthusiasm and a steady, pragmatic attitude to problem-solving.
  • Able to manage own time effectively.

    About the School

    The King's School dates back to 1541, when it was re-founded on the orders of Henry VIII. Co-educational throughout, with a school roll of approximately 1350 pupils, the Foundation consists of a senior day School and two junior Schools age 2-18.

  • The Senior School is situated next to Worcester Cathedral and the River Severn; King's St Alban's is adjacent to the main site, and thus able to share many facilities with the Senior School, and has approximately 180 pupils from age 2 to 11;
  • King's Hawford is just north of Worcester in spacious grounds and currently has approximately 270 children from Kindergarten to Year 6.
