    About this role

    Graduate / first buying role. As a buyer you will have accountability for a specified category within the commercial buying team.

    You will be responsible for Buying, ensuring your supply base and the product range is optimised, proactively using data and analysis to maximise performance and drive sales, profitability and share growth to support the growth and to support the overall Ocado Retail strategy and goals.

    You will be responsible for :

    Manage the category P&L and deliver against KPIs

    With support, complete category reviews to refine range and align to the business and category strategy

    Deliver trade, promotions and events plan

    Identify opportunities to improve all-in margin and, with support, negotiate with suppliers to deliver savings

    With support, negotiate with suppliers to agree and deliver market leading plans aligned to the customer plan and category strategy

    Analyse and assess performance issues and opportunities using data and reporting tools and, with support, devise and implement solutions

    Identify and analyse potential first-to-market / Ocado exclusive product innovation opportunities using customer, market and supplier insights

    Provide input to support the development of category strategy

    Ensure range changes are aligned to category and business strategy

    Manage and review the performance of the supplier base across small or emerging categories through communicating and developing relationships with suppliers to drive engagement and performance

    Work closely with Supply Chain and the supplier base to ensure best in class availability

    With support, identify and create plans to mitigate potential issues / events that may impact supply

    Work closely with suppliers and the category quality team to ensure product quality remains high

    Adhering to all Ocado policies, storage and handover protocols and successfully completing all of your training so that you have zero GSCOP breaches.

    Ensuring all agreements are recorded in writing, reporting GSCOP complaints to Legal within 48 hours of receipt

    You will need

    No previous buying experience

    Excited about working in retail and food

    Core competencies

    Negotiation skills Comfortable challenging the status quo and influencing others

    Analytical skills able to quickly analyse and synthesise information into clear and concise recommendations

    Project Management Comfortable working to meet tight deadlines whilst balancing multiple priorities and projects

    Results orientated - able to consistently deliver against KPIs within an evolving landscape

    Communication & Influence Able to write clearly for a range of audiences, and deliver oral and written presentations

    Team Management Able to work with a range of stakeholders from a broad range of backgrounds, at all levels of the organisation
