Sr. Cloud Operations Engineer LCM

Oracle’s Cloud Operations PaaS group is looking for atalented Cloud Operation Engineer with expert level experience in supportingsystems and applications built on a mix of Oracle and Open Source technologies.

As a contributing member of a globallydistributed team, you will be responsible for the support of Cloud Servicesacross various PaaS portfolios.

This isa unique opportunity to work on exciting cutting edge platforms to supportOracle’s growing Cloud Services.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with product development andoperation teams to define production PaaS Service deployment standards anddrive standardization across operations.
  • In depth hands-on systems experience with LinuxO / S, Oracle Weblogic application servers, Oracle HTTP servers and OracleDatabase servers.
  • Work with Development, Release Management,Service Delivery Managers and other Cloud Operations teams on Life CycleManagement (LCM) processes and tools to on-
  • board new and upgrade existing PaaSServices.

  • Work with Security, Server, Network andMonitoring Operations teams to integrate PaaS services into Oracle Public Cloudproduction environments.
  • Proactively identify CI / CD automation initiativesand SRE activities to increase efficiency in day-to-day operation.
  • Use and expand cloud operation monitoring withthe expansion of cloud footprint.
  • Cooperate with Run-time Management teams (RTM)on new External Compute Service deployment architectures and associatedoperational monitoring and management tools, including Oracle EnterpriseManager (EM), Logstash / Kibana and Real User Experience Insight (RUEI)
  • In DepthHands-on experience on Ansible, Kubernetes and TerraformAutomation / Orchestration tools.
  • Required Skills :

  • 7+ years of senior technical expertise in Linuxsystem administration and scripting
  • 5+ years of senior technical experiencesupporting complex production virtualized infrastructure environments
  • 5+ years of senior technical experience withOracle Weblogic application servers or similar middleware tier.
  • 5+ years of senior technical experience withOracle database.
  • Strong working knowledge with networkingfirewall and load-balancing configuration experience is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Ansible, Kubernetesand Terraform Automation Tools is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle HTTP Servers (OHS)or similar HTTP servers.
  • Detailed troubleshooting skills to investigatesystem performance bottlenecks and bugs.
  • Technical skills and knowledge that extendsacross Application / Server / Storage / Network technologies to troubleshootand provide system level guidance / solutions.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills tointerface across breadth of Development, QA, CloudQA and other Cloud Operationstechnical teams and management.
  • Hands on experience in translating capacityrequirements into Infrastructure deployment topology, with experience in sizing,capacity planning a plus.
  • Attentionto detail.
  • Must be a self-starter, with a strong attention to details.
  • Effective written and verbal communicationskills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Preferred AdditionalSkills :

  • Experience in installing, configuring andmanaging layered cloud technologies :
  • Operating system (Linux)
  • Application Servers (Weblogics)
  • Database Servers (Oracle RDBMS, MySQL).
  • Certification(s) on Linux / Unix administration inany distribution.
  • Experience with automated IaaS and PaaSdeployments
  • Ability to code and script
  • Strong experience with systems troubleshooting
  • Experience with frequent, incremental andcontinuous code testing (CI) and deployment (CD) processes and tools (Idoru,Artifactory, Hudson, Selenium)
  • Comfort with collaboration, open communicationand reaching across functional borders
  • UK Citizenship is required for this role
  • Detailed Description and Job Requirements

    Work with Oracle's world class technology to develop, implement, and support Oracle's global infrastructure.

    As a member of the IT organization, assist with the analyze of existing complex programs and formulate logic for new complex internal systems.

    Prepare flowcharting, perform coding, and test / debug programs. Develop conversion and system implementation plans. Recommend changes to development, maintenance, and system standards.

    Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical / business skills in area of specialization.

    BS or equivalent experience in programming on enterprise or department servers or systems.
