Aviva is a Multinational insurance organisation and we are currently recruiting for an exciting Midlands Region for a Senior Mobile Property and Liability Trading Underwriter to join the Aviva Regional SME Trading UKGI teams.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Trading Underwriter will join the Midlands Region dealing with complex cases with aligned Cambridge based intermediaries.

You will be actively supporting trading and developing an action-orientated culture that celebrates success and learns quickly from mistakes.

You will be aligned to a portfolio of customers and brokers, developing the commercial book of business in order to maximise growth and profitability.

Skills & Experience required

  • You will have key experience gained in a regional trading environment.
  • Insurance Business and Market Have a detailed understanding of the insurance market with a consistent track record of dealing with Mid-
  • Market cases paying £15k - £100k

  • Portfolio Management Understands the use of portfolio management in the team and the advantages of trading a portfolio of cases where appropriate.
  • Customer Knowledge Understands customer requirements and can work within the Aviva operating principles and trading guideline.
  • Understand Aviva’s key business goals, and how their role contributes.
  • Use your understanding of Aviva’s product set to develop insurance solutions for our customers.
  • Core Insurance Principles and Practice Applies the core principles to everyday situations, promoting the importance of risk management.
  • Proactively identifies own training and development needs and delivers appropriate solutions for self and others.

  • Underwriting Authority and Qualifications Should be working towards increasing their authority with the ultimate goal of achieving Level 1 in at least 1 of the principle classes.
  • They should lead on governance and understand the Underwriting Quality and Capability Framework.

  • Leads the team in the absence of the manager and supports them to drive performance of the team
  • Has joint accountability for the delivery of the Team Plan
  • They should be working towards a CII qualification and it is desirable that they should be ACII qualified.

    Full training will be given within the Birmingham branch, but you would be expected to be self-motivated and able to work effectively from home and at a broker's offices.
